Ok cool! I will report back on the Walmart and Mall, and also look for the MAC (didn't know there was one there - good to know!). Taking a chart is a GREAT idea.  Thankfully, I don't have to worry about makeup because I'm a pro makeup artist and have a couple of makeup artist friends coming as well.  I haven't decided if I will let my business partner do me or do myself. Everyone (including her) is pushing me to NOT do it myself. Have you checked reviews for your resort? Some brides have mentioned whether or not they felt the resort makeup artist was good or not.

I do, however, have to worry about hair. I'm waiting for my stylist to give a quote to fly her down - hopefully it won't be too crazy. Unfortunately, I don't have hair stylist friends so flying mine down will have to be a big splurge.

wow...u are so lucky!!! I have checked reviews for the resort.  they are okay. I just love the way mac products turn out.  I have always been extremely happy with the results and always feel my best after being in there.  and feeling good that day is so important to me.  My 2 bridesmaids are gorgeous...so for just one day I want to be the one who finally stands out. It sounds so cheesy but im the quiet friend while they are loud & outgoing.  Basically it just comes down to my insecurities :(

as for hair...im on the fence. I have very long, nice hair...so im thinking of wearing it down...kinda natural.  Undecided if I want the jeweled headband or not. it will all depend on the weather that day. if its windy I may go for an updo...so I wanna pick out 2 styles- one up, one down...and be prepared to do either one.

I love the headband in the updo pic.  it looks peacock inspired.

i'm sure you are just as attractive as your friends but understand the insecurity factor and wanting to be the most gorgeous version of yourself! :) we always insist on doing our brides last so we can really spend lots of time on her - we want our clients to look and feel special and uber glam so i totally get it!

LOVE the 2nd headband! The beauty of it is that it works well with both an up or down do. It would even look fab with an elegant side-pony.

@@girlinthecity97 I thought I was the only one that started planning my 2015 wedding early...I started in December right after I came back from the Brides Dress Rehearsal.  I'm getting married next January at AB and am excited because it was gorgeous!!! the dress rehearsal was totally worth it although it took up a lot of time during the day but for someone like me who wants to know everything, I'm glad we did it.  As far as the Karisma coordinators in Florida, I'm having such a difficult time with them!! I originally booked the dress rehearsal through destinationweddings.com but the coordinator there was awful. When I came back and started asking about dates and prices, she gave me dates that I wasn't looking for and her prices were about $200 HIGHER than the hotel rack rates!! (I called Karisma FL. directly and asked for their rates) So anyway, I immediately dropped her and went to Liberty travel to book.  If you do the dress rehearsal you're entitled to a $500 Food and Beverage credit but what they don't tell you (and it's in fine print) is that you only get the credit if you book with the original travel agent. Long story short, I went through weeks of arguing and being put in touch with different departments in Karisma, but they finally granted it. From what I heard from some brides that were there the weekend we did the dress rehearsal is that you have to fight for EVERYTHING but that they'll eventually do it.  I also had to fight for the past two weeks about the Bride and Groom Stay Free Promo but they also finally gave it to us.

Best advice I can give is get everyone's name and extension and written confirmation of everything!!

@@ng2015 - thank you SO much for this insight.  I don't have to worry about documenting everything because when it comes to deals and cashing in, my fiance is worse that I am. He writes EVERYthing down and will hold EVERYONE accountable until he gets what was told/promised.

did you have any down time or was it all booked by the resort?

also, did they mention anything about a "free event"?  i'm reading on here that some brides were awarded a "free event" like their cocktail hour or welcome party based on the number of rooms booked?

If you are getting married a year from now...how are you being awarded the bride and groom stay free promo?  I was told 20 rooms booked in order to get that.  If your wedding is still a year away you prob don't have ppl booked already? or do you?  I could definitely use that extra little perk.

@@girlinthecity97

I booked everything through a GIWC so that how I got a free cocktail hour.  Not sure about other ways to get that perk.

Bride and Groom Free Promo?  I would love to find out about that as well.  I am trying to get enough rooms just to get a free private reception.  I dont have enough yet, however our guests are staying for longer than three nights so we have a total of about 68 nights. So far I have a room upgrade and a free cocktail hour.

@@girlinthecity97 Honestly, I didn't get offered any extra perks. I blocked off 20 rooms with Liberty Travel so I'm guaranteeing them at least that. We haven't even sent out save the dates yet so I'm just assuming. I was totally scared that our guests wouldn't get rooms because everything goes so fast!    Also, a good chunk of the day was used for site visits but you still have the later part of the afternoons to do your own thing.

@@talicea7812 everything I'm finding and asking for is on the Karisma website....their Bride and Groom stay free promo says 1 free room for every 10 booked so that's what I argued. Here's the link http://www.karismahotels.com/savings/brideandgroomstayfreeaz

If they're offering it, we should totally use it!!

So here it is straight from their website:

http://www.karismahotels.com/savings/brideandgroomstayfreeaz

" Book ANY OF THE AZUL HOTELS FOR WEDDINGS AND RECEIVE 20% OFF PRIVATE EVENTS, $250 IN RESORT CREDITS FOR ALL GUESTS, PLUS A FREE SUITE FOR THE BRIDE AND GROOM!

Free Rooms: Bride and Groom can earn free rooms based on the size of their wedding group
(varies by hotel and date range) One free room for every 10 rooms booked

Resort Credit: Guests can receive up to $250 per room resort credit (valid on specific items only)
Private Events Discount: 20% discount on any event the bride or groom purchases from our

Again, you have to fight for everything with them so if you're willing to put the time and effort in, they'll eventually do it.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
