HELP! Plantation is booked already...

I have a minimum of at least 75 guests showing up for the wedding and I was just told that the plantation restaurant is booked already for a 200 person wedding.

Anyone have any ideas? The wedding is on a friday next august and have no idea what to do. I also dont think that I can afford to pay 50 dollars extra a head to have it at the pool or beach and if I remember correctly isn't there a beach party on Friday nights?

Mo (MoBride) is having her reception in the afternoon (if I remember correctly) at Evita's Restaurant. I don't recall the prices, but I remember they weren't outrageous. Maybe that is something to check out. Other than that, I have nothing to offer cuz I am not a Riu bride. But dont you worry, I am sure they will check in soon enough with advice!

I can't find their website right now, but I have a menu that I will try to upload in a minute.

You should call your TA and see if she can find out how else they can accomodate all your guests. Also, do they have the Plantation booked all night? I think if someone rents it out for 2 hours, then there is another sitting after that. I would totally get my TA involved cuz I'm sure she has connections. Let us know!

I did hear that 1 of the brides when I was there had her dinner reception in a conference room. I dont know why she would choose that location. Maybe because the plantation was booked? Otherwise each of the other restaurants would be to small. Can you change your date? Do you have 75 people booked allready? If its under 50 you could just have it at mammee bay. As I found out last friday, the beach party isnt always on a Friday. The weather was beautiful last friday night but it was on Sat. night instead. I asked why and they told me they change around the nights all the time.

Oh no!!!!! (I know you probably have) but did you emailed Chandlyn yet about options? And if so what reply did you receive? For a reception at the Plantation were you going to have to pay anything extra? If so, maybe Chandlyn can accommodate you by maybe setting up your reception on the beach... Is that possible (I think I heard it cost extra to hold anything on the beach due to setup)? Chandlyn as the wedding coordinator should be able to help you out. I would put some heat on her...she needs to be more helpful to you, if she can not accommodate you at the resort than she should be able to provide you with other options...even off the resort if that is what it takes. I would point out that you are bring A LOT of business to the resort just for your wedding and you would hate to have to look into other options, possibly moving to another resort altogether….I have the email for the marketing coordinator for the whole Riu resort chain so If Chandlyn does not look like she helping, maybe you could go higher. (All I do is handle complaints from customers for the company I work for, so I’m like a professional complainer, if you need some help let me know). Everything is going to work out for you J

I agree completely! Chandlyn needs to offer you other options. You are bringing 75 guests to the resort, which is a lot of business, and they need to find a way to accomodate you. I think either you and/or your TA needs to get in touch with either Chandlyn and/or someone higher up at RIU.
The other option is what Carly mentioned...go somewhere off site. Mobride will have info for you about Evita's, so that could be an option.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
