kat2014 - We rented the whole hotel for 3 days... We wanted to have the entire place to ourselves the whole weekend. I know we should fill them up but I am just stressing out! I do everything so far in advance - I wish everyone was like me lol

I'm talking to a local (RM) wedding planner on Wednesday to discuss various off-resort options for my wedding.  I was leaning toward having a resort wedding before because of the (relatively) better bargain. However, I really want to see if I can make things work off-resort within my budget---I think the intimacy and personalization would be worth it.  Wish me luck!

My fiance and I are getting married May 17th '14 at Secrets Maroma Beach in Riviera Maya and we are SO excited. We actually picked the resort based on friends who are avid all inclusive Mexican/Caribbean resort goers, and they could not rave enough about this place! After looking into the resort, I can see why! woot.gif

So far we've gotten the contract down with the basics with the coordinator (with some issues I must say), picked a travel agent to book the entire trip through, and I am now looking to finalize a photographer. So many to choose from and so expensive blink.gif.. but it will be worth it... right? Right!  I'm glad to hear that I am not the only one who feels this awkward lull starting now since apparently the real decisions don't come together until a few months prior to the wedding.

Ah.. I also picked my dress... I totally didn't want to give in to the cliche, but I went to Kleinfeld's in NYC this weekend and totally fell in love with a Pnina Tornai...undecided.gif I will needless to say have to re-arrange my budget as I spent way more on the dress than initially intended.

Not 100% sure about colors yet... actually looking for some suggestions! My sister will be doing the STD and invitations (gotta love having an advertising/art major in the family) and the STD are going to be a blue around this hue... I was leaning towards bright pops of color such as that bright turquoise, bring hot pink, green and cream? Not sure.

Congrats again and I'm looking forward to being able to bounce ideas and feedback with everyone here!

Idigliani: What issues did you have with the contract? I just received mine on Friday and am about to send it back, but would like to know any troubles you went through?

It's been mostly language barrier I believe? I think overall it's more the fact I am way too detail oriented and she's thinking to herself "wtf.. this wedding is a YEAR away." Examples of issues were that from the start I had stated I wanted platinum cocktail hour and dinner for all my guests (we're doing the ultimate package) and I think I saw 5 copies of the contract without it before she actually made the change. The changes come, they just take a bit of time. Now most is accurate (with the exception of extra charges I am unsure of as of yet). So I don't really know how to cease contact until when? January? March? lol What's your plan?

Hey Girls!

I'm loving all the small boutique wedding locations on this thread!!  As for color palettes, just keep in mind that a destination wedding in this area already provides a TON of color between the turquoise ocean and the lush green jungle, you might also want to consider any rich colors in your hotel.  Some of the hacienda styled resorts often use deep tones like burnt orange.  Since orange has been mentioned, I wanted to include some nice combos we've seen!

Happy Planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
