May 2014 Brides & Past Bride advice

Recommended Posts

I would first get with a travel agent to help you narrow down some options. They have usually stayed at most of them and they know the advantages, prices, and availability for each place. I got married at the rui palace peninsula in cancun. We did a 7 day, all inclusive, with 50 guest. Amazing! But your travel agent can be a life saver if you get a good one.
I contacted a travel agent through BDW. I'm not sure how good they are though. And I also got a recommendation from a friend for the travel smiths and I think it will cost $500 to use them.

Hey all and congrats to all the May '14 brides! I got engaged end of March and got right to planning haha. My fiance and I are getting married May 17th '14 at Secrets Maroma Beach in Riviera Maya and we are SO excited. We actually picked the resort based on friends who are avid all inclusive Mexican/Caribbean resort goers, and they could not rave enough about this place! After looking into the resort, I can see why! woot.gif

So far we've gotten the contract down with the basics with the coordinator (with some issues I must say), picked a travel agent to book the entire trip through, and I am now looking to finalize a photographer. So many to choose from and so expensive blink.gif.. but it will be worth it... right? Right!  I'm glad to hear that I am not the only one who feels this awkward lull starting now since apparently the real decisions don't come together until a few months prior to the wedding.

Ah.. I also picked my dress... I totally didn't want to give in to the cliche, but I went to Kleinfeld's in NYC this weekend and totally fell in love with a Pnina Tornai...undecided.gif I will needless to say have to re-arrange my budget as I spent way more on the dress than initially intended.

Not 100% sure about colors yet... actually looking for some suggestions! My sister will be doing the STD and invitations (gotta love having an advertising/art major in the family) and the STD are going to be a blue around this hue... I was leaning towards bright pops of color such as that bright turquoise, bring hot pink, green and cream? Not sure.

Congrats again and I'm looking forward to being able to bounce ideas and feedback with everyone here!

I am also getting married at Secrets Maroma in May '14.  My fiance wants to go with the resort photographer -- Adventureland Photo, but I am very nervous about it...  Have you decided on a photographer yet?  Any recommendations?

I just got married at Wicky's Beach Club this past November.  The site is actually changing but I did have a great photographer.  If you are looking for a great photographer,  we used Christian from Gaia Photo Studio.  He is amazing and very fun to work with.   If anyone would like to see the shots that he took, I can send them.  He is really funny and brings a nice assistant.  They made everyone feel very comfortable and were not at all intrusive.    Contact him at christian velazco <christian_velazco@hotmail.com>

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
