Weight of dress is EVERYTHING! I own two wedding dresses because of that very issue. I got to thinking about the weather and how hot it would be and 3 weeks before the wedding I went and bought another dress. Best decision ever! My dress was as lite as a feather. The only thing I wish I would have ended up wearing was my wedged heels. No matter how little it may have rained in cancun, you will sink on the grass or at least give a little which makes your dress seem longer an more difficult to walk in. If it weren't for that I would have stayed in my dress all night long.

I've got some wedged heals to go with my dress, my dress isn't heavy but it's got a slight train... So I was worried incase I'm too hot and it ruins my day. The fabric is organza so it's light, I've fallen in love with it - maybe ill have to get two! Happy planning xxx

Hi ladies, just found this thread. I am May 2 2014 Beaches Turks & Caicos. I have sent out passport STD' s made by Rebecca former BDW bride. a few guests booked. Other guests saying they are coming but not booked. Working on invitations now trying to DIY. No dress yet did try some on just this wk. Might have found one but not sure. I know it will be hot but I really want an actual gown not a beachy dress, although I have seen some really nice ones. Even tried two on to be sure. Our theme is the conch shell which works great with turks will be doing a group trip to the conch shack there. Our colors are the coral( tannish/ Brown for guys) cream to me those are conch shell colors and mint for a little different color. Our logo has two different conch shells want to have it on our bags and favors. We are planning an AHR as well but with all the attitude we are getting I might scrape that. Need to decide quickly so that date can be included on invitations.

Hi Ladies!

I got engaged in February and my fiance and I have set the date for May 10, 2014 at Beach Palace!  We are from Canada travelling May 7-14th, 2014 and we all booked through a local travel agent.  We are flying down with Sunwing Vacations and have 26 guests who have paid their deposits!  So exciting!

Palace Hotels have an amazing wedding department and it has all been so effortless so far.  We are doing the complimentary package with the wedding ceremony on the rooftop Skyterrace and the cocktail hour/reception next to the rooftop pool.

As for color scheme we are doing white, sand and turquoise with pops of tropical flowers (tangerine, pinks, yellows)

I sent out e-save the dates in March to all our friends/family which had the basic save the date details with a link to our website. The website had all the information and details on how to book, etc.  When booking with Sunwing Vacations through the tavel agent, my fiance and I only had to put down $200 each to hold a block of rooms/flights for up to 30 people and secured the group price rate.  This hold was good for 60 days which gave our guests lots of time to make their $200 deposits to reserve their spot.  After the 60 days was up we had a pretty good idea who was coming and who was not.  A few stragglers booked after the deposit deadline and were still able to reserve their trip but the group rate had expired so they ended up paying a little bit more, but it all worked out fine.

Now that we have our "for sure" guests I am currently putting together a more formal invitation package to send out.  I made my own tropical invites (http://i.imgur.com/47dXF09.jpg) and then bought these adorable candy tins (http://i.imgur.com/ed1V6J0.jpg?1) which i am filling with flip flop shaped candy to include in the envelopes (http://i.imgur.com/HFj5YNp.jpg) along with some more info on a sunset charter boat that we are booking and a panflet on the hotel.  It is going to be a bit of an invite/"thanks for booking" package.  I am going to be hand delivering them due to most of my guests living close by which will save on postage because the packages are a bit big :)

Congrats to all the other May 2014 brides!!

Hello - and welcome to the forum!  Go you on 26 guests booking and congrats on your engagement and upcoming wedding.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
