When is the right time to find/book a photographer? For me photography is one of the most important things, but my fiancé actually said he wouldn't mind if we didn't have one at all. eek.gif I've already requested quotes as the best ones are getting snapped up as we speak, right?

I feel like such a bridezilla whenever I discuss the whole photographer thing with my FI. He says he wants to give me the wedding of my dreams but I can see he really doesn't want to spend the money on photography that I do.. if it were anything else I'd be happy to compromise but I'm just not finding any "budget" photogs with the style I'm looking for. sad.gif Oh well, here's hoping he just doesn't have the heart to say no in the end. (Oh, the guilt!)

About the venue and why it's "the one": I have a million gorgeous wedding visions that I could have happily gone with, so when picking our destination and the venue I kept going back to my extremely laid back fiancé in my head and thinking about where he'd be the most comfortable and enjoy himself. Once we'd picked Tulum, I just made a list of all even remotely possible options and started crossing them off my list. Ana y José ended up meeting the most of our requirements (even though they're getting increasingly bad reviews on TripAdvisor now..). If my fiancé was as much of a wedding freak as I am, we would have gotten totally and absolutely overwhelmed with choice. cheesy.gif

Hey Laurammx...

It is so funny you say that Photography is everything to me as well! I actually found a great photographer and put my deposits down already for him. I am so excited and can recommend him to everyone!!! His name is Hideki, his work is truly amazing and he is such a nice guy! Were you interested in video and photography? he does them both! He truly knows how to capture the vision of each wedding I just love his work.

Here are a few of is albums...If you do contact him tell him Edith from Le Reve sent you cheesy.gif  Let me know what you think!

Haha what a coincidence, I received a quote from Hideki just a few days back! He is one of the five photographers/studios that I contacted and someone that I'm seriously considering cheesy.gif

So excited for you!! The pictures are going to be amazing for sure! And what a sigh of relief to have that confirmed and done. Yay!

Ugh. Just wanted to vent that I'm getting really frustrated waiting for Ana y Jose to get back to me! I know it's peak wedding season but come on sad.gif I'm paranoid about securing a photographer (we're going with Button Up as well if they're still available! I compromised) for our date but I'm too cautious to do it before we've put down a deposit for the wedding. It's been 8 days since I asked them about the deposit and said I'd love to confirm..

Wish there was an equally good option we could consider switching to :(

Laurammx.... omg I know that feeling! Is there a number you can call? It is very disappointing to not get the responses you want in a timely manner especially since the wedding is so far out. It is so much uneeded stress! cry.gif

Before making any decisions think about the stress level you are feeling now and the stress level we will all feel come March - May next year. You don't want it to multiply so choosing the perfect place is so important Also you should maybe express to Ana y Jose your thoughts about communication and how important it is to you as a Bride to be.

Before doing that take a few days off from all things wedding related and do something fun!

Did Hideki said he is available for your date?

Hey Futureflier87. Moon Palace is really nice...in fact all the Palace resorts are nice. Also, check out Barceló, Azul, or Sandals.

I too am indecisive. I am very surprised I made a decision and actually signed the contract so fast lol.cheesy.gif

Another May 2014 bride here!  I got engaged at the end of January, but I was thinking that I'd have the wedding either in our current city or in my hometown.  After looking at prices in both places and realizing that I'd have to spend a lot more than I wanted/could to get the event that I wanted, I started to revisit the idea of a destination wedding.  At first I thought: 'there's no way to get the personal touches that I want at a destination wedding'. However, this board completely blows that out of the water.  I'm seeing lovely, personalized events at a variety of budgets---just what I'd like!

Then came trying to decide on a place (see my introductory thread)! My dream is to have a Caribbean Carnaval type of wedding---complete with food, dancers and music. I was really loving the idea of St. Lucia, but I think price-wise, it's going to be a bit much for my guests---and there aren't as many direct flights.  Also, there doesn't seem to be quite as much choice compared to my current top-runner, Riviera Maya.  I haven't ruled out the Bahamas or Puerto Rico, but I really think Riviera Maya gives me the best of all worlds---good food, culture, and easily accessible by plane from the East Coast.

Futurefiler87-We are in the same place.  I really need a place that has great food, will allow outside vendors, has a modicum of privacy (LOL) and also allow me to stay on budget.  One of my friends says that I will be dithering for months on this and I need to get moving.  I already have some photographers in mind, and I don't want to miss out on them!

Congratulations to all of the May 2014 brides!!!!

Congratulations! Making the decision on a resort has been the most challenging task for me so far! I think we may have finally decided on Moon Palace. It seems to have everything we are looking for. I was sent the contract today to fill out to confirm our date and time, eek! cheer2.gifCan't wait to hear what you decide, any thoughts on locations so far?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
