For all of you DIy brides who made your postcards

What paper did you print them out on?

What type of paper did you use?

What type or printer did you print

I think I have them set up but dont want to waste time printing on the wrong paper using the wrong printer I have a HP 1310 and want to know if I should steal borrow or buy a new printer for this.

I may not be much help since I print mine at work since I work for a printer ... but I used 100lb cardstock for the STD postcards and 80lb coverstock for the Boarding Pass Invitations.

I used the FREE offer on Vistaprint.com. Ended up costing me $20ish I think b/c I uploaded my own front & back for it. But 100 for $20 isn't bad at all! They were VERY professional looking.

for the little card inserts i included with my magnet STDs I just bought the Avery (or generic brand) postcard paper (they're pre-cut) and printed them at home, I have a Canon MP530 (I think).

Did you use photo ink? I have magnets as well.

i didn't buy any special ink - but i also got the matte white, photo quality ones, not the glossy ones. though i did print on photo paper using the same ink once, and it seemed to work.

i also recommend using vista print for something like postcards.... more than likely you will spend more money buying paper and printing on your own... let alone the time it takes for cutting...

Karen and I used Vistaprint for our postcard wedding announcements also. The quality was outstanding and I think it ended up costing us about 15 dollars or so for about 250 postcards. For the cost of inkjet cartridges you might end up saving money by having them printed up for you.

If you want a more hands on approach Staples, Office Max or Kinkos can usually print on cardstock as well.
