Bride on A Budget (7,000.00 WEDDING CHALLENGE)

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the tips and for sharing ladies! We want to stay under $15k for our Feb 2015 Mexico wedding. We were planning to invite everyone (200+ with the hopes of getting 100) but after finding out about the extra fees for going over the package numbers we are thinking of trimming the guest list. We are also considering a change of date. Were planning for Valentine's weekend but our TA told us resorts will be a lot pricier then. Sighhh to DW planning being a lot more complicated than I thought.

Thank you to everyone who has shared information on this thread. It's all been so helpful! Can anyone suggest a resort that allows children but isn't so "kid friendly" that adult activities are limited? I will have an 8yo, 12 yo, and 3 teenagers. Seems like the places that allow kids have huge pirate ships parked in the middle of the pool! Definitely hard to relax like that! Oh, and we are looking at Cancun/Riviera Maya as our location. I appreciate any tips and thanks again for all the information that's been shared! I've been challenged by my FI to keep this under $8000.

This is awesome! I have a 10k budget. Are any of your resort weddings have a private reception or ceremony? I want private and can't seem to find a result that offers a private wedding. I have about 30ppl.

I think Now Jade offers it in their $2400 package for 25 ppl...there may be $20 for each additional person for dinner.

You mentioned you were getting married at the NOW Jade....I have some questions if you dont mind.

(trying to decide if this looks good for budget)...

On their website their package says $2400 for the one above the complimentary pkg BUT in fine grey print below it says dinner is not included? BUT in the package it says "Private Dinner reception for 25 people"

Have a look at the picture I attached....did you pay extra for dinner on top of pkg price?

Also, what travel agent (Sunwing, Sunquest...etc) did you book with to get your deal of 6th room free? Im looking to get simliar deals when traveling.

Thanks :)

Hey! I haven't had my wedding yet. But I am now getting married in Punta Cana DR at Now Larimar. I am booking through the BDW travel agent Teresa. She is amazing!! Dinner is included for the 25 ppl. Got to the website again. I didn't see anything saying dinner was not included in fine print.

I stayed there two years ago and absolutely loved it!! Their service is great and the staff makes it fun! Only thing is, I didn't like the food but the grounds and beach was beautiful!! Congratulations

Well my budget for my destination is $0. I picked the free package and the most we'll pay is for officiant which is $300. I want to keep it extremely simple. I may decide to get chair covers and I'll probably pay for the additional amount of guest that are not covered but that's about it. My budget is going into the AHR in which I'm shooting for 10k. Talk about frugal.....

Also..my cousin who owns a professional camera is taking pictures and my friend is a hairdresser

This thread has a ton of useful info!

I am wondering what this deal is regarding rooms booked and credits.....about having 5 rooms booked and you get one free? Is this true? Is it through the travel agent or the hotel?

We are booked at the Now Jade for October 23, 2014 and will have 80-100 people attending! While we are completely ecstatic and happy that so many can join us, it is really pushing the budget!

hi! for sure considering trimming your list! my wedding date is also Feb 2015

I am inviting 120 people with the hopes of only having 80 coming lol

but DO NOT invite people you really dont care if they come or not.. because that just adds up to your stress :)

hope everything goes well! :)

How is everyone coming along with staying within the $7,000 budget?

We're getting married at Now Jade May 2015.  So far we've only put down a deposit for the resort and a TTD session.  We are going with the photographer included in the package for the standard wedding shots.  Our official wedding photos will be our underwater TTD pic.  We are all about being different. That will be a wow factor for our guest after everything is said and done.

Oh, we also checked out GroupOn for an engagement photo session.  We scored one for $40 (worth over $200) so that saved us a few bucks as far as the budget is concerned.

In what ways are you ladies (and gents) saving?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
