1. Yes, for the most part. The hubby was in charge of music so he put together a spreadsheet. Music is a big deal to him, so when the DJ commented that we made great picks he was all proud of himself. Haha.

2. At cocktail hour we had the steel drum band. We basically missed this part since we were taking pics, but everyone said they were awesome.

3. We did spring for the dance floor. As for if it's worth it or not, totally your preference-- if you're going to do first dances and want to wear cute heels or shoes, you might want to spring for it. If you're going barefoot, dancing in the sand is fine I'm sure. But I will say that I really liked the setup with the dance floor-- they had it in the center and then all the tables around it on the beach.

4. I say just go to the disco after. That's what we did and we gave everyone glow stick bracelets and necklaces.

5. They use the same chairs for the ceremony and reception. We upgraded to the chivari chairs in silver, and I thought they were pretty on their own so I didn't bring sashes or any chair decorations (other than the fans with programs, which were only out during the ceremony). I bought the napkins online (forget where) but for 40 purple napkins it was pretty affordable, and then I packed them, along with all my other crap, in the plastic storage bins that I taped up really well and checked as luggage. I ended up leaving all 3 bins behind-- didn't want to deal with getting them back to the states, and they were only like $9 each so I didn't feel too guilty.

glad you said that about the chivari chairs, i'm upgrading to that as well. i was wondering if they were pretty enough to skip the chair sashes! i'll prob just decorate our chairs but leave the guests simple! did you get your pictures in yet?

Here are some pics from the reception! This should give an idea of the setup of the whole area and then the centerpieces (which were the pommanders I had along the aisle for the ceremony, placed into bowls...)

I did! Going to post some, still going through them! Here are some pics of the chivari chairs if you care to see how they look without decorations and just fans.

Alexis, I  LOVE your setup!  For the ceremony and reception - it's simply and elegant.  It's gorgeous! I was actually thinking of doing pommanders for the ceremony but then putting them in a bowl for a centerpiece - it's nice to see it looks good!  Did you bring the bowls or get them for the resort?

ok i didn't see it so here goes my couple questions: (lol)

1. did you make the pommanders yourself or you just used the florist?

2. where did you get those long hanging crystals for your chuppa at the ceremony?

1. Haha no worries! The pommanders were supplied by the florist, Tai Flora. They were $85 each and we had 10. Kinda pricey but since they were decoration for both the ceremony and reception we went for it.

2. The crystals were also from Tai Flora. I purchased the purple fabric online and brought it with me, and they added the crystals. For some reason that teensy little chuppa cost $500. Might want to look into bringing your own crystals too and see if that cuts down on the cost at all!

Thanks!! I bought the bowls at Ikea and brought them with me. Here are the ones we used: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10212884/

I love the pomanders and the way that you repurposed them for the reception---classy and smart!

Thank you!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
