Funny that we have been going through the same things with family and friends, & sorry to hear that your brother can't attend but great news about the baby. You should skype each other on the day!

I have only immediate family on my side coming and my partner has lots & lots as he has a very big family. (& its my mother in law to be that is the nervous flyer too!!! - her and her husband - but she has been amazing- they did upgrade to premium which I think will help to make the flight less nerve-wracking !!)

Some of our friends have been really great very honest and told us straight that its not possible for them, but others have said yes defiantly and then avoid the "booking up" bit! very similar to your situation! We have said that its no problem with us if they are unable to attend as we know its such a big ask. I have found it hard with bridesmaids as we don't want to commit to buying expensive dresses and things if they are then going to be unable to go. A few have mentioned booking in the holiday sales / late deals if something comes up but thats leaving it way too late for me to organise dresses & colours, so i've just said thats no problem with us but I will need to have you as guests. (I don't want to sound mean to them but I think its better all round when everyone is upfront and honest).

Have you had any luck with your friends since? How many bridesmaids are you hoping to have? xx

Sorry im all very new to this! Im getting married this year at Grand Palladium in October! we went for the pearl island package and are getting married on the beach, with reception at Blue lagoon restaurant. We have 33 booked on. I have read both your past comments and also had mixed reactions getting married in Jamaica, mainly with my family! My sis and brother in law are both expecting there first child too and they knew before trying when and where we wanted to get married, obviously i want my sister to be bridesmaid and baby will only be 3 mths when we go, so i have asked another friend to be bridesmaid just in case my sis cant make it : ( Its all adding up a lot more from what we first expected! if you have any queries just ask as i know WC can take a while to get back. Im also liasing or trying to with Erika! Congrats btw!!! Nic

Hi Nic!!

Congrats to you!! How are your plans going - do you have most things sorted now? Gosh October will fly by you will have to report back to us after your wedding!! I have gone for the pearl island package it looks amazing, do you know if it includes any extras for the reception and a room upgrade? I also love the look of the blue lagoon restaurant! Have you opted for any entertainment?

Its always hard with friends and family isn't it - hopefully your sis will make it! Def a good idea to have a plan in place though just incase. Would you have a celebration back at home after the wedding for people that can't attend? Thats what me and my partner are thinking about doing  xxx

congrats nic xx

it will soon be here im in the same situation over siblings and babies we gave everyone 2 years notice.

sophie we have upgrades the flights too well we have along with my mum and dad and jasons mum and step dad think it will be quite nice having that time with just our parents

im having 2 bridesmaids (both jasons sisters) no maid of honor as this was going to be 1 of my best friends but it doesn't look like they are coming!! we didn't ask his sisters to be bridesmaids until they had booked and i wasn't going to ask my friends until they had booked as we didn't want to put anyone under pressure if they really couldn't make it. Was going to have my little nephew until we found out there was going to be another on the way so now they cant come i now have a baby niece too even more gutted as a little flower girl would have been very sweet! Ive had a little issue with my cousins little girl asking about bridesmaids but i just dint feel comfortable having her if i cant have my own niece and nephew is that mean? and they haven't booked yet so they not definitely coming yet. Jason hasn't decided on his best man yet but hes using the same plan of wait till they book

sorry for the long winded post!

nic have you booked a photographer?

All this drama that comes with wedding planning, sometimes i just wish it was me and my partner going away by ourselves! lol. Will all be perfect and well worth it in the end!! Things are coming along! I've got my dress, alterations need to be done in september and then im taking it to another dress shop to pack it in a special box so i can take on plane! are you both flying with thompsons? We have upgraded also, we did the first time we went to jamaica and its well worth it and for the wedding why not, as we have over 30 people we get champagne and chocolates on flight too! theres only us and another 2 couple who have upgraded which is nice, the rest of our friends will be in normal seats. My mum and dad, in laws and best man and bridesmaid (who are married) are flying out 3 days before us. people who are coming for 1 week fly out day before wedding! I have got one bridesmaid dress (richards sister) and need to order second one for best friend soon. i ordered it from DIYDRESS and its made in China (thought this would work out cheaper but no due to postage, tax etc) wanted to order only one in case i didnt like it save sending two back but works out its fine, my mum needs to take it in at the back but colour is beautiful, we have opted for bright orange as the pearl island package is white (with pink accents if you like, im not really a pinky person) so i have got white favor boxes with orange ribbon, orange crystals for table, will have the whote flowers from ceremony moved to blue lagoon (i hope) and put either side of top table and im waiting to hear about centre pieces, might pay extra for orange and white flowers. i have also bought white fans for on the beach for guests and orange petals for on beach. Richard prefered the blue lagoon as it overlooks pool and sea and when sunset goes down it is amazing. I preferred to poisedon, which is the smaller restaurant, i felt it was more intimate and it has beautiful sceneray, as last time we were at the lady hamilton the only thing seperating us from wedding party was a white sheet?! I have been told this is not the case now, there is a room divider plus theres more room to dance ; ) not sure regards entertainment yet, its $500 just for the sound system to play your own music and microphone for speeches?! have read in past reviews people have used their ipod speakers and its been fine for speaches if you have a smaller wedding party, just talk louder!!! we would love the steel drum at some point but thats $350 for an hour. Re flowers there extra too, for a long stem lilly its $35 for bridesmaid, i have decided to buy flowers here (including my own) foam or silk and take them with us and keep for keepsake, girls are having plain white roses and im having bright orange, found these cheap on pollyspetals. have not yet sorted photographer, found the cheapest being $1300 for 3 hours and thats with photos on cd, no prints! Im in a dilema what to do, i do photography too so i dont know whether to risk teaching a friend before we go to save money but i also dont want to put the pressure on them to take good pics on my wedidng day?! we are having a reception thing when we get back for friends and family who couldnt make it (or who werent invited) in a local pub which has been given to us for the evening, as its an old pub we have had to hire marquee etc but will be worth it and get to wear my dress again!!! re your bridesmaids, go with what you think is right, its your day nobody elses, just stick with what you have rather than complicating things thats my advice and think of cost, coz beleive me ours is all adding up!!!! hope to hear from you soon, hope this has helped!!! Nic xxx

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
