am feeling a little better

oohh it sounds stupid really i just felt her comments were really harsh and quite rude

we were out having dinner and the wedding came up and she asked what the men where wearing so we replied that we would like the men to wear bright hawaiian type shirts with light coloured trousers we thought it would be really fun and coloufull and a bit different well she nearly had a heart attack and im not exaggerating she kept saying that we were having her on and we cant do that my oh bless him kept saying well we are and get over it then she pit her head in her hand and said 'oh my god its gonna look so twatty' (excuse the french)

well i just went quiet picked at my food and when we left made my excuses as to why i wanted to go home and cried all the way home my oh was great but i couldnt talk to him about it its his mum for gods sake!!!

anyway now we are not going with the bright shirts i just couldnt stand the thought of her looking at someone on our wedding day and thinking they look 'twatty' she has spoilt that idea

thanks for listening to me rant xxx

Hi Girls!! How are you both?

Vic, poor you, it sounds like you are having such a time of it :(

Family can be a right pain because they are not afraid to come out with whatever comment first comes into there head... mine have been difficult about things too like the need to voice an opinion over every decision! The most important thing is that you and your other half have the day that you both wanted and planned without looking back at the photos and having any regrets. (Just for the record I think the hawaiian shirts would look great! They are such fun and they look good in the photos i've seen of other weddings & it totally fits for a beach wedding)

We are thinking of getting some hawaiian shirts for the guys to wear to the reception after the ceremony for more photos cos they will prob get hot & sweaty in the other shirts anyways thinking of doubling them up as their gift too!

Me and my other half are staying with my family at the mo (while we refurbish our house) I can only sum this up in one word...nightmare! We should have our house finished in Jan, god, hopefully before! Every time we go to discuss anything wedding related someone is chirping in the comments, so we have ended up not talking about it. My mum even ordered up a load of waistcoat samples online the other day and gave them to us to look at they were horrendous and looked like curtains! The look on Brendons face was a picture!

How is the rest of the planning going? Nic your wedding is coming around so fast now! Any luck with photographers? A friend was going to come and do our pics but I don't think he can make it so don't know what to do now they are all so expensive! Thinking of doing our own pictures but worried they may turn out bad!

You guys have any more numbers booked? I think we have reached our lot at 22 now xxx

I know not long at all, just over 3 months and the men still havent sorted out there outfits! Its really hard to find a stone coloured three piece suit, Rich wants to wear just a waistcoat, shirt, cravat and he wants the best men in shirt, maybe tie and jacket (as my dad wants to give me away wearing a suit jacket) fair enough. Had a mare with bridesmaid dresses, bought off DIY dresses, not right dresses, spent over £200 and they wont give me a refund, had untold emails back and forth and its really just annoyed me! I have now found difefrent colour dresses from misguided and house of fraser, so the girls are coming over tonight, if not good then I have my sisters bridemiad dresses from last year that havent beeen worn since but means spending just as much on alterations, we'll see! We have 34 in all at the mo, my sister is due to give birth in 2 weeks so is unsure if they are going to come, fingers crossed but I havent got my hopes up, just in case! We have decided to go with true colours package for photography, as i want some nice pics and dont want the pressure to put on a friend to take loads of pics, want them all to relax and enjoy the day as much as we will. We have gone for a package which includes 4.5 hours of there service, all pics are on CD and you get a $30 voucher for getting some prints. I asked if this was spread out throughout the day as i want pics of me getting ready, ceremony, friends/fam, first dance and evening reception. Also to let you girls know if you book true colours you dont pay the vendor fee as its booked via the hotel. Its a lot of money but its worth having as I have to have some decent professional pics on our big day and we're saving on other things i guess! Hope your both well! i think the hawaiian shirts are a fab idea, maybe even if you said find the colour of your theme so you all blend in and go with your colours?? speak soon xx

thanks for the support girls it is really appreciated!!!!!smile03.gif we have decided to go with plane shirts now just didnt want the thought of her thinking negatively on anything on the day we go bridesmaid dress shopping on saturday wish me luck!!!!

my guest count is 14 at the min with another 3 definates to book but that will prob be it

we booked true colors at the weekend after a lot of agonising over it i read some of the negative reviews but to be honest i really like the pics on their web site and they are great at getting back to you we got a photography package that covers 3.5 hours dressing cerimony formals and sunset and video of all of the above the fact that there is no vendors fee was a big plus i was emailing a few other photographers but as soon as you ask about a discount or mention that you have to pay the vendors fee they stop replying to you!!! xxx

hi ladies just a quickie have we all booked with thompson?

i was lead to believe that grand palladium is exclusive to them however we chose for everyone to make their own booking wanted to save anyone feeling the pressure to come or price going up if someone dropped out however my future father in law and partner and her son went to book today father in law and parter booked ok no prob but her son wanted a room on his own and knew there would be an under occupancy charge but it actually works out dearer for him to go on his own that father in law and partner together apparently its due to an undersell tax!! its extortionate!!!!!

has anyone else had a similar prob and if so was it resolved and how

Hi vicki, We have booked with Thomsons, it is very expensive for single occupancy, my auntie was to go in her own room and to reduce the cost so it worked out she was only paying the original price for one adult we put one of the children over two in her room. Hope that makes sense. What wedding package have you picked and venue are you getting married? We've chosen the gazebo and island pearl xx

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
