Has anyone had to change Travel Agents/Agency but already sent your wedding invitations to your guests?? HELP

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had to change Travel Agents/Agency but already sent your wedding invitations to your guests?  I have.  I am thinking about sending out a "postcard" or letter with the new info.  It is very unfortunate that I had to do this but the service I was getting from Destination Weddings.com was HORRIBLE!  I was able to get out of the contract thankfully have found an amazing company  to take over!

Anyone have any advise on what I should do and write?  It's embarrassing that I have to now send out new info when I sent the invites just a few weeks ago!  We spent A LOT of money on the passport invites which is depressing but it was either let any more of my guests get horrible service from the TA or this option of getting out the contract and sending new info.

HELP!!!!

I think you should send out a postcard with the updated TA info. I had the same issue with destinationweddings.com, I didn't like the jacked up room quotes I was getting and the TA basically told me i had to deal with it as my wedding is peak season in DR but I'm from DR and I know for a fact it won't be peak season there in 2014 as the Holy Week is in April. I was ready to print out our passport invites with that TA's info but I might not use any TA at this point!

OMG! I almost used them but MissJali advised me the other route to I'm using Wright Travel Agency and love them!

How soon did you send out your STD?

Also random question to anyone:

How do you know how many people will go in advance when trying to book a place or did you ladies book after you found out how many people were going? Make Sense? lol

My TA quit a week after I sent out over 100 invites with her name and number on them. I was mad but it ended up being for the better because she was a crappy TA! If people want to know info and can't find it they will contact you.

  • 5 months later...

I actually had put a deposit down of $100 with AbsoluteWedsite.com....but quickly realized they are the AbsoluteWORST.... LOL...I thankfully did not send out any std's or invites to my guests yet...then I found my current agent who's with marlin travel...and he's the best! I initially booked our trip to be from a Wed. to a Wed and I sent out (electronically) our save-the-dates with that week.  Soon after, we changed our date to be a Mon-Mon trip and then ordered our invitations....so ppl were a tad confused at first but it was cleared up. We only invited about 50-60 people and i knew who was for sure coming so I just called those people personally and told them the changes.

I'm sure your guests will understand...you are planning months if not a year ahead and many things can change.

they say to consider 30% of your total invited guests as "coming" to your wedding.....

we invited less than 60 ppl to our wedding and we have a total of 24 booked so that sounds about right....that's not including ppl that are planning on coming and booking on their own (last minute).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
