It was hard for us because we completely fell in love with Roatan, it truly is paradise and we're actually considering it for our honeymoon or for a vow renewal but it will always remain dear to our hearts. We're planning on putting down a deposit this fall for our date of June 25, 2015, we couldn't be more excited!! Now just to decide which resort is the most affordable and the best fit for our family. Hopefully we'll have STDs out by January.

that's a hard decision to make :( Punta Cana is absolutely beautiful.. we had to make the same type of decision because we wanted Punta Cana but the resort we fell in love with was just too expensive and I didn't feel comfortable asking my family to spend that much... we have decided to have our wedding at a beautiful resort in Cuba and we will hopefully get to Punta cana for our honeymoon.. that way it is only us spending the money and not everyone else. Good luck with the resort search!! It was fun and stressful all at the same time.

Omg I know how much you were looking forward to Roatan! What a tough decision! sad.gif But I'm sure it was for the best and your wedding will be beautiful nonetheless! Good luck!

It was a very tough decision, by the time we'll be married we'll have been engaged for five years so it was so important that we not have to settle for a destination but we actually really fell in love with the Jellyfish before Roatan so it's not a bad substitute.

Hi everyone,

We are planning to get married some time in 2015 and have our wedding somewhere between Cancun and Tulum. We have been to Dominican Republic and fell in love with the Caribbean waters. I always say it's never too early to plan something especially when there's a tight budget involved.

Thank you everyone for sharing your knowledge and resources on this forum.

For sure! It's definitely never too early! It just gives you more time to check out your options and really find ways to cut costs and find what you really want! happy planning!

I am right on the same boat as you & trying to pick somewhere in the same area! I've been crazy busy at work so I haven't been able to research much but thankfully I have some time!

Hello Ladies!

Welcome and Congrats on an early start, As wedding planner in Riviera Maya, we have so many beautiful resorts, but if you keep few points in mind it might help you in choosing thee resort for you,

Decide if you want a an all inclusive hotel or a Family friendly?

Do you want to be in town where everything is happening or rather somewhere quite?

Is pure white sandy beach important or can you have partly rocky?

Do prefer a resort with a mexican feel or something different?

Obviously price will play a major factor too, check if the resort offer any group rates.

Feel free to ask for advice or any help and we will be happy to help.

Happy Planning

Joyce

Thanks so much for the helpful tips! I shortlisted a few AI resorts but it's hard to budget at this time since prices for 2015 won't be out until probably spring 2014. A TA I spoke with noticed that prices are rising by $200-300 per person for 2014. So I don't even know if our DW wedding will ever happen anymore. I live in Vancouver so it doesn't help that we live so far away from Cancun :(

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
