Private wedding venue in the MR

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! My boyfriend and I recently got engage, and as we and his family live in Alberta and my family is from Quebec, we are planning a destination wedding in the Mayan Riviera for April 2014. We thinking we might be a group of 50-60... We are thinking of booking the rooms at the Barcelo, but do not like the idea of a wedding on a beach with strangers looking at us!! We are then looking for an other private venue to have the celebration, the supper and the dance. We are also looking to buy a house next year, so we do not want to spend big money. We are pretty simple people and really just want to have some good time with our guests. Anyone had a good experience at a private venue for a good price? Thanks ahead! :)

Hey Albertalou,

Congrats on your engagement and welcome on here.  As wedding planner here in the Riviera Maya, I am pleased to let you know that you would find a lot of private location in the area and I am happy to suggest them to you. What is a good price for you or Budget for the 50- 60 guests?

You can send me an email at weddingsinplayadelcarmen@gmail.com

I am happy to assist you finding your location.

Happy planning

Joyce

What a gem it was to find this thread! I am also in Alberta (grew up in New Brunswick) and my fiance and I have just begun this process as well! And although I'd love to have it on the beach itself, the idea of onlookers half dressed surrounding us doesn't feel ideal lol.

I am also looking for a private reception area for up to 50 people, so thanks for brining this up!

Joyce - thank you for your note, and I will be emailing you as well if that's ok! smile159.gif

I think that part is key---hiring a local coordinator you trust will help you find the best options for you. What are some of your criteria for a wedding venue?

We are just all about having a private ceremony and reception.  We want to feel like we're the only ones in the world at that moment, like we decided to have a wedding at a well hidden local gem on the beach.  We are both very laid back and down to earth people but we do want our guests to have an experience of a lifetime.  We don't mind if its on a resort or at a beach club.  We have about 30 people, so probably would be cheaper to do off site.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
