Why did you pick the resort you did for your wedding?

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone!

I am recently engaged and we quickly decided we will have a destination wedding in Punta Cana. Yay! We have narrowed down the search a bit but am stuck deciding between a few of them.

Just wondering how and why you chose the resort you did.

Thanks for your input!

& CONGRATS!

I've been obsessed with Hawaii since I went when I was about 9. I've been 3 more times since & since I gave up my dream to go there for college I just knew I couldn't give this up (although for the first 3-4 months of engaged life I was going to have it in Philadelphia)

I picked Maui because it's our favorite island & has the most to do & we love the resort

I picked Gannon's after changing my mind of the location on this island. To give you a little info about Maui, the whole island is beautiful, but the South side is better for pictures & special occasions, however, our resort is on the West side. I was going to have the Wedding on the West side as well, but I changed to South after seeing pictures & reading other people's opinions.

I guess it depends what in your heart. Where have you been? What's in your budget? What is your style (I'm a Hawaiian girl, without the blood- from my bed room (at my parents house) to my favorite colors & flowers)

Pick a general area & study the hell out of pictures & reviews!

GOOD LUCK

Hi,

I picked the Hard Rock for many reasons.

1) It seemed like it would have the most to do

2. I absolutely love the Colin Cowie Collection.

3) Their package included the most guests

In addition to that they were offering free functions if you book a certain amount of rooms or nights. So I would say find the resort that fits your needs and your budget. I think they are all beautiful and I struggled between Dreams Punta Cana and Hard Rock but Hard Rock was in the lead! Hope this helps!

My dear ladies!!!

Rob & I got married at Dreams Palm Beach & Jellyfish in April 2012, it was the most amazing time of our lives.

It was even more amazing because we spend most of our time on the other side - we're wedding photographers here in Punta Cana (and all around the world!) This is our 2nd full time season living in the Dominican Republic, so we have lots of awesome tips to share.

These CONFESSIONS are some reflections, tips & tricks regarding choosing a resort & venue for your Big Day. It was such a labour of love, I truly hope it's of value to you! If you have any questions about choosing the perfect resort, please don't hesitate to reach out. We always have up-to-date information. We're here for you at katya@katyanova.com or via private message here on the forum.

HUGS!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
