It's a relief to hear that you are having a good response with Destiantionweddings.com. So did Debbie block rooms and the flights together or separate? Would you mind fwd'ing her contact info? My email is normas09@gmail.com. She really sounds amazing! Plus, I definitely don't want the headache of going through expedia or other sites for best deals and then worry about having guests not being able to stay in the resort. I agree so many decisions! I am so stressed with school and trying to book a resort by May!

Wow, you have a big group! I had told you that we were going to have 60-70 people but then after a second look that's only from my FI's side!

I am torn between colorful fiesta theme (bright colors) vs a more vintage romantic theme (ie. light pink, burlap)...my pinterest boards are full. haha. Not sure about dress yet except I don't want something too big because I'm on the short side :) What about you, what are your colors & dress like?

I'm thinking about video cd save the dates...read about one posted here and it seemed to be a big hit with guests and got them excited.

Definitely, would love any information you get from your TA. Do you have a pdf of the wedding packages, by any chance? If so, can you send to me to my email? I don't have enough posts to open documents on here.

We are trying to narrow the resorts that we want to visit...it's so hard though. AHH!

I'm going to post the groomsmen gifts shortly...will send you link. My FI just started handing them out and they have been a huge success.

Figuring out the guest list has been the worst! Think I may have to make a "b" list!  I love the idea of CD save the dates, I had never heard of that before.

So my original plan was to try on some dresses and then have someone on Etsy make me a copycat dress for around $400. Wellllll, my mom made me stop at the dress shop the other day "just to look". Anyhow, I ended up trying on a few and then fell in love with "the one"!!! I seriously would have paid whatever they wanted for it. lol ohhhhh well, i'll just have to try and save money on something else.  Originally I thought I wanted something simple and Aline, but the saleswomen had me try on a mermaid from the Vera Wang White collection and I felt like such a bride. I never though that style with a poofy train would look good on me because i'm on the shorter side (5'4"). The funny thing is I hate how it looks in the catalog and I never would have thought to try it on...I'll post pics once I pick it up!

I'm still torn on colors as well...I think i'm between coral/white, or white/blush/gold.... I'm trying not to worry about that stuff until the summer, but I just cant help it!! I blame pinterest :)

All this wedding and mexico talk makes me want a Margarita!!

It's going! hahah   I sent my STDs out a couple of weeks ago so now I have to figure out my invitation.   I plan on sending them in October.   I have been totally obsessed with getting stuff for my Welcome Bags.... other then that the only thing I have done (besides come up with ideas) is book my room and date.

Your wedding is in January - that isn't that far off!!  You must be getting super excited!  How is all your planning going??  Where is Now Jade?

Sounds like you're off to a good start so far!!! I feel like picking a place and deciding on the guest list was the hardest part. Do you have any type of theme that you're looking for for your invitations?? I cant even tell you how much time I spent looking through different types of invitations, envelopes, and fonts lol... Getting pretty excited here, time is just flying bye!!! Now Jade is in mexico along the riviera maya. Right now I've just been designing menus and pre-travel brochures since I have a vistaprint coupon that expires soon. Other then that, I feel like I cant really do anything else until I have a better idea of how many people are coming. Sent my invitations out in the beginning of July with and RSVP date of Oct 1st, and so far we have 45 booked (but we invited 175 :-O) I know I want to do personalized tumblers and give them to people with their pre-travel brochures, but i'm still undecided about doing welcome bags...maybe I can just stick some goodies inside the tumblers?? Have you nailed down any other details yet: dress? colors? wedding party?

i'm not from boston but i'm an RN and from rhode island. so i'm pretty sure we're rooting for the same sport teams haha. anyway that's awesome that you already have 45 booked. we are inviting about 80 but we are thinking only 20 will actually come. i have mixed feelings about this. some days i don't care who's coming and actually happy because obviously it will keep the costs down and some days i can't help but feel hurt that the people i want to be there could not make it.

Hello.. ..

I picked St. Lucia pretty quickly . . .  we had been looking into going there on vacation but then went somewhere else - so when we started doing this whole wedding thing I looked at what Sandals had to offer ( that is we were going to go for vacation)  I really liked that it all seemed so easy so I picked that for the location!    175?!?!?!  Holy hahah   45 is even a good number!   We only invited 22 people (11 couples) (parents, siblings, 1 best friend each and just recently decided to invite his Aunt (also god mother) and her date as well as one of my Aunt & Uncles)  The only 2 we aren't sure about at this point are my two sisters (going as one couple) They are both college students so they need to wait til next school year to know if they can go.

Your location sounds pretty... Mexico and Jamaica are very popular on this site!

As for my invites I have no idea!  I just sent my STDs out at the end of July and plan so send invites in October so I have a little time to think about it.   My FI is an artist so I'm hoping he will be wiling to help me design something special!!

With that many people I'd stick to something pretty simple for Welcome Bags. . .  I think if you just stick some individual packs of things like Tylenol, Pepto, A welcome letter and something like that they would be perfect!!  My Welcome Bags have been consuming my life HAHahah - Since I don't have that many to make I find it easy to keep adding things... I find things on sale or for a good price and I'm like oh I need those! hahah it's really bad!!  I actually have little goodies I will be sending out every three months up to a couple of weeks before the wedding.

I haven't been dress shopping yet only done a little on line browsing... not sure when I will go.. not really "there" yet for this!

I don't really have a set color scheme... I just want bright tropical colors.  I am doing an all white (or shades of white) dress code for everyone with an accent color of Yellow.

My mom is helping me make a brooch bouquet.  - I'm very excited about this.

I'm not having a wedding party - since we have such a small group I want everyone to really feel like they are part of the wedding.  However, just last night the wedding came up and My FI said something about how he should ask his brother to be his best man.. I was like umm we said we weren't doing a wedding party... he looked at my like I had ten heads and said "I dont know what a wedding party is but my brother should be my best man!"  hahahaha  sooooo I will have to bring this up again soon and if he really wants a Best Man I will ask my Best Friend who is coming to be my MOH.  I already told her we probably aren't doing a wedding party but if we were she would be my MOH.

Whew sorry this is soo long!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
