El Dorado's Naay Spa offers pampering for the bride, her party and the groom too! There are two spas that offer similar services: Royale and Casitas

Both El Dorado Royale and El Dorado Casitas Royale guests are welcome to sample the impressive menu of services at Casitas Spa. Drawing on the ancient healing traditions of Old Mexico, Casitas Spa offers distinctive therapies in a serene atmosphere designed to heighten your romantic resort experience.

Revel in the decadence of our sensual “chocolate therapy,†rich in cleansing minerals and nourishing cocoa butter. Massage offerings encompass Swedish, shiatsu, reflexology and our signature Beachfront Sky Massage. Our facilities include a serenity pool, saunas, steam rooms, specialized bridal suites and more. We offer exfoliating body scrubs, milk baths, thermal mud massages and a variety of facials. Full beauty salon services are also available, including Caribbean braiding.

Menu of Services

Bridal style (wedding day): $94

Bridal rehearsal: $49+

Make up (wedding day): $94

Make up rehearsal: $49+

I highly recommend the Beachfront Sky Massage for two. It's romantic, and very relaxing - imagine the sea breeze blowing around you and the sound of the ocean tide as it ebbs and flows. *sigh* I'm ready for another one!

The ladies and gents from the spa are often roaming the resort with daily specials. If you're looking for some extra-pampering, take advantage of the Casitas spa!

Allow an hour for hair rehearsal, and at least 90 minutes for wedding day hair styles. If you have inspiration photos, bring them with you! These ladies are amazing.

You can also book the bridal suite for extra pampering on your big day. Be aware that only the bride is able to be in the bridal suite - if you imagined your getting-ready to be with your mother, bridesmaids, sister, etc. then don't book the bridal suite.

Arrive early (45 minutes to an hour) for your services and take advantage of the water journey/ritual (note - if you're getting your bridal hair style, you'll need to leave enough time to shower & dry your hair - extra charges if they need to wash & dry your hair).

Just a note to add that I noticed prices changed for bridal hair and make up as of May 2013. Unsure if the rehearsal prices have changed as well.

Options - lots of options!!

EDR/EDCR and Lomas Weddings can assist you in customizing your wedding even further.

Many brides choose to add sheers to their gazebo for the wedding ceremony. You can choose white, or a variety of colors. White sheers are $100 each to rent, or $150 for colors. You'll need two sheers for the gazebos at EDR/EDCR.

You can also customize your wedding with table runners, table cloths, chair covers and/or chair bows. The standard set up includes long white table cloths that you can change out for colors, or enhance with an overlay or runner.

Reviews from BDW EDR/EDCR Brides:

(click on each bride's user name to link to her review)

YarrowsLedge - Married July 24, 2010

"We never left the resort one time other than to and from the airport. All in all it was an amazing dream come true wedding and honeymoon.

My new father-in-law is a retired minister and (though he was biased) said that it was the most beautiful wedding he had ever witnessed."

CanadianLindsey (Lindsey) - Married December 1, 2010

"Overall our experience at this resort was absolutely amazing!  We had a few kinks along the way but we didn't let it ruin our trip or wedding.  I would highly recommend it for a wedding with an adult guest list or a honeymoon/couples escape. It is a huge resort with tons of lush greenery, pools, fountains and beautiful buildings.  You really feel like you're in an island getaway!"

rpingree001 - Married January 8, 2011

"Our wedding reception was at the Health Bar and was a perfect location for our size of 38 guests.  We kept decorations pretty simple with a couple runners, rose petals and votive candles.  And we had the flowers from the ceremony brought over to decorate various areas.

We did the BBQ Deluxe buffet and it was fantastic!  The guests raved about how wonderful the food was."

Allie H (Allie) - Married November 5, 2012

"EDR truly gave us the wedding-moon of our dreams. The phrase we heard over and over during our stay is "anything is possible in Mexico", and the staff of EDR/EDCR really do mean that."

jnitschke (Jennifer) - Married May 24, 2013

"This was such a learning experience for me, if I had to do this again it'd be perfect... not that I ever want to get married again, this one can last.  The resort is amazing, the food is great, they do a great job of catering to your likes and dislikes, they were too strict about dress clothes, everyone was always so happy to serve you... it was great. ...I just want to pass on some wisdom... which is.  Keep it simple... everything is gorgeous already so you don't need to dress it up with more stuff."

JEM236 (Jill) - Married May 31, 2013

"The wedding was fantastic! The onsite coordinators were very organized, and the whole day went smoothly. I was really impressed with how attentive, organized, friendly and efficient the team was. We were able to have the ceremony on the beach and the reception at the health bar. I loved my hair and makeup, I LOVED the decorations, and the DJ really made the party. Everyone raved about the food too. I have no complaints about the wedding at all and they whole day was perfect! We had a blast and it was everything I wanted and more." (and then poor Jill had to deal with flooding in RM! poor bride!!!!)

Things I Wish I Had Known (pm me to add anything you'd like!)

from Allie H:

--Tucanes is hot for a private event, even in November, even when the weather is mild! Step out by the pool to catch a breeze and cool off a bit

--If you do a first look, it's unlikely your groom will return to his groom's room prior to the ceremony. get his guys to empty his stuff out and head to the ceremony location.

--the WC will have a cart for you & 1 guest to get to the ceremony. 1. that could be your mom, MOH, or photographer. plan ahead to get your party to the location (you can call the bellmen to come with a cart if needed!)

--don't forget to order some lunch for you & your girls - build in eating time!

--stay hydrated (water, water, water!)

--have your girls (and mom) get dressed before you start getting ready. then your photos will have them all dressed and pretty!

--have a bride's bag and assign a dear guest to be in charge of it. include an emergency kit, lip gloss, comfy shoes, and other must have items

--explore the resort prior to your wedding for any "must have" photo locations. we missed a few cool shots that I now wish we had

--keep it simple with your deco (I've heard this from other brides too!). EDR is a gorgeous resort, and doesn't need a ton of dressing up.

--I wouldn't hold the welcome dinner the same day everyone arrived - they were all tired, and crashed as soon as dinner was over. we expected to party a little more with them that night

--4pm ceremony time in November was a little too late; we lost light really fast after the ceremony. I would totally move it back to 3:30 if I had it to do over again

--the rehearsal hair appt only took an hour, so I thought we'd be fine on the day of the wedding getting started at noon for a 4pm ceremony. day of took 90 minutes. we were rushing to finish my make up before our first look, and ran a little later than planned

--anchor your veil/hairpiece with gobs of pins

--there was no need to pay for cupcakes for all of our guests (in lieu of a wedding cake); the dessert served with our meal was phenomenal! we would have been fine with a small cutting cake for the photos/tradition part of it

Symbolic Ceremony Script (as of Sept 2014):

Non-Denominational

Marriage Celebration of

Gita and Nick

El Dorado Resort, México

We have come together, family and friends, to uphold you Gita and Nick as you make your vows of marriage.  We celebrate with you the love you have discovered in each other and support your decision to commit yourselves to one another for the rest of your lives.

Marriage is a holy state born in the name of love.  It was given in wisdom and in kindness, so that mankind would find happiness.  Your marriage is a union between the two of you and therefore is not by any to be entered into unadvisedly or lightly. Our ceremony today is based on the relationship that you, Gita and Nick, share, and in your faith, for it is a covenant.  It is indeed, a joyous occasion when two souls are united in love; when two hearts experience the same feeling and two persons act as one in this most beautiful spiritual union. We affirm this love you have for each other.

We ask to bless this marriage, and seal the commitment of Gita and Nick.  Assure them of your abiding presence, as they look to you for wisdom, strength, patience and a lasting love for one another so they can live together in a way that will bless them both, and bring honor.  We pray that the words and spirit of our gathering may be filled with meaning, which will deepen with the passing years.

Gita and Nick today is a very special day in your lives.  Now you have decided to live the rest of your lives together as husband and wife, promising to face the future together, accepting whatever may lie ahead.  Soon you will be declared man and wife, but you will have to decide each day that stretches out before you, that you truly want to be married.

Love makes the burdens lighter, because you divide them.  It makes joys more intense because you share them.  It makes you stronger so you can reach out and become involved in life in ways you dared not risk alone.

Gita and Nick, your marriage is intended to join you for life in a relationship so intimate and personal that it will change your whole being.  To attain such love, you will need to commit yourselves to each other freely and gladly for the sake of a richer and deeper life together..

“Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres.

Love never fails…

And now these three remain:  faith, hope and love.  But the greatest of these is love.”

The covenant of marriage is one that can be entered into only by persons who are both legally and spiritually free to offer themselves to one another.

Nick, Do you come of your own free will and with a conscious desire to be united in marriage with Gita?

I do.

Gita do you come of your own free will and with a conscious desire to be united in marriage with Nick?

I do.

Gita and Nick do you promise to care for each other in the joys and sorrows of life, come what may, and to share the responsibility for growth and enrichment of your life together?

We do.

Minister to couple: Will you please, as an expression that your hearts are joined together in love, now join hands?

Minister to groom: Nick, this woman whom you hold by the hand is to be your wife. She has given you one of the most sacred things under heaven:  a woman’s life and a woman’s love.  It is not what you bring her in a material way that will make true happiness; for riches without love is nothing.  The gift without the giver is bare.  Practice as a husband the virtues that you have shown as friend and lover so her heart will be won to your heart FOREVER.

Nick would you look into Gita eyes and share the vows you’ve written for her:

INSERT GROOM’S PERSONAL VOWS HERE

Minister to Bride: Gita, this man whom you hold by the hand is to be your husband. Upon your life, your love, and your devotion he will lean for strength and inspiration.  He is going to look to you for encouragement, for cheerfulness and for confidence.  May your life and love be the inspiration that will constantly lead him to greater affection and devotion to you, his wife?

Gita would you look into Nick eyes and share the vows you’ve written for him:

INSERT BRIDE’S PERSONAL VOWS HERE

You, Gita and Nick, have pledged your devotion to each other.  From this point on you do not stay together simply because you love; you choose to love because you have made the commitment to be together.  What has been joined let no man separate.

Minister to Groom: Nick, place this ring on Gita finger.  Now while holding her hand please repeat after me:  I give you this ring / as a symbol of my love and faithfulness I promise to cherish you / and honor you / each and every day / for as long as we both shall live.

Minister to Bride: Gita, place this ring on Nick finger.  Now while holding his hand please repeat after me:  I give you this ring / as a symbol of my love and faithfulness I promise to cherish you / and honor you / each and every day / for as long as we both shall live.

A ring is a fitting symbol to represent the covenant you are making today, a circle, the emblem of eternity, reminding you that your love, devotion and commitment to one another are to be forever.

Gita and Nick, may these rings be blessed as a symbol of your affectionate unity.  Your lives are now joined in one unbroken circle.  Wherever you go, may you always return to one another?  May you two find in each other the love for which all men and women yearn?  May you grow in understanding and in compassion?  May the home that you will have together be full of love, laughter, family and friends?  May these rings on your fingers symbolize the touch of the spirit of love that is in your hearts?

THE SAND CEREMONY

*****

Gita and Nick today you join your separate lives together. The two separate bottles of sand symbolize your separate lives, separate families and separate sets of friends. They represent all that you are and all that you’ll ever be as an individual. They also represent your lives before today. As these two containers of sand are poured into the third container, the individual containers of sand will no longer exist, but will be joined together as one. Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers, so will your marriage be.

*****

We give thanks for this moment that brings Gita and Nick together in marriage.  We celebrate with them the hopes they hold for their life together.  We ask your blessing upon them, to sustain them through the difficult and uncertain times that come to every relationship.

May they continue to grow together and may their love for one another deepen with the passing years.  Amen.

*****

Because you, Gita and Nick have exchanged your promises of faithful love, and because in our presence you have exchanged symbols which make your covenant visible, we now recognize before God and the community that you are husband and wife.

Nick, you may now kiss your bride.

Congratulations!  Ladies & Gentlemen, I now present to you Mr. and Mrs. ____________

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
