Hi everyone,

I am a Moon Palace bride getting married Feb 8,2014, just confirmed the date yesterday.  I am sooo excited to start the planning now.   The resort said they would get back to me in April with promo's and the cost on room blocks.  I am hoping that someone can tell me what area of the resort is the best to stay at the Nuzic, Sunset or Grand.  I have read that all the weddings take place on the Nuzic side.   Any info would be great.   As well when you did your room blocks with the resort did or can you request rooms.  I have a couple that put in a room request to me the other day.

Hi and congrats!!

I was married at Sun Palace but stayed at Moon Palace! You will love it! :)

I was just informed that construction will begin in the Nizuc section (mainly renovations) starting oct/nov 2013- they probably will not be done by your wedding so I would avoid the Nizuc section.

We stayed in the Nizuc section and loved it because it was centrally located in the middle!

If you are having your wedding on the beach or in the Catholic gazebo your wedding will be in the Nizuc/ Grand section.  There are terraces all over the resort for the reception.

Personally I think with the construction you should request the grand side- it is at the end but it is newer and the rooms are bigger and it's more secluded- more jungly atmosphere.  The Sunrise section is the "party area" and the Nizuc section is in the middle- not too crowded but like I mentioned before there will probably be some construction going on in the lobby and restaurants will be closed and some of the pool bars may be closed as well.

If you book through a Travel agent you can request a section of the resort- we requested the Nizuc section.  I do not know if you book directly through the resort if you can request a section or not.

Feel free to private message me if you have any other Palace resort related questions! :)

Hi Shan0487,

thanks for the info on the rooms and the construction.   I will let my travel agent know that and some of my guests who has told me that they want to stay on the nuzic side.  Kind of sucks that the construction is going on.   I was hoping to have the wedding on the beach but the reception on a terrace.  Hopefully I will be able to have the reception not on the nuzic side.

The terraces and most of the rooms will not be affected by the construction.  Some of the rooms will be affected as I think they update the rooms a few at a time and then the lobby and probably some of the pool area.  If your guests want to stay in the Nizuc they will be fine, just warn them about the construction! The terraces are all near the beach and gazabos- which will not have construction so no worries!! There is a terrace on the grand side if you are worried though- the Verando Terrace- that is where my rehersal/welcome dinner were! Nice and secluded since it is in the grand section! :)

Hey everyone!! I am getting married May 4, 2014 and was just informed by my travel agent that the entire Sunrise section is going to be closed from January 2014 til the following January, and that the casino will also be closed. Has anyone been told the same thing? This really upsets me that I wasn't informed about this when I booked the wedding.

There is no casino in Moon Palace in Cancun...maybe she si getting confused with the Punta Canta resort.   They just renovated the Sunrise section so I'm not sure why the would close that entire section down for a year.  I would contact someone else- is your travel agent local?

Thank you! I thought that was what I had read that they just redid the Sunrise section.I tried calling Moon Palace myself but haven't gotten anywhere. I also emailed them with no response. I just spoke to my TA & she sd they are just re-doing the rooms in Sunrise, all the amentities will still be open which was my main concern.

You'll be fine!

We actually stayed in the Nizuc section for my 40 guests and we all loved it since Nizuc was centrally located and the pools and beach were quieter! :)

Hi,

The sunrise section at the moon palace is not under construction they just finished constructions and renovations of the rooms.  Right now they are working on the renovations of the nuzic side but that will be done in about 2 months, but the construction does not disrupt the resort.  I have friends that are members there and they confirmed this for me.   As well I am getting married there Feb 2014 and my wedding coordinator says everything is  open and will be great.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
