The Problems Us Canadian Brides Face...SHIPPING!!! (Help needed!)

Recommended Posts

So we've given up on online purchases...shipping is just too much!

We were able to find tylenol/advil and tums at the dollar store...but they were $2 each. I was hoping to spend less than that, but it probably would have been the same price with shipping to our house...and I don't have to wait for it to arrive.

STILL looking for bags....our dollar stores don't have what I'm looking for at the moment...we're heading out in the morning to find the rest of what we need - I'm determined not to come home missing anything. Wish me luck! :)

Not sure what kind of bags you are looking for but I bought plain natural canvas totes from ingreetings.com. They were cheap to begin with shipping was around $18. But they carry the same ones at michaels. I believe they come in a pack of 3 for $11.99 but if you pick them up using 50% off coupons it will work out to $2.25 per bag after tax, which is roughly what I paid from ingreetings.com after shipping. I then just bought a pack of Avery iron on transfers from staples to customize. 400

I'm having the exact same problem! I gave up on trying to find cheap totes. They were all SO expensive! The dollarama at West Edmonton Mall did have some cool beach mat/tote things, but they were pretty small. Also Micheals had very plain canvas bags for 3.99, but I found them way too flimsy and cheap looking. I eventually decided to get more expensive ones and give them to each couple/family and one per person to the singles. We only have 25 guests, so it worked out that we only needed 13 bags. I bought them for $10 at Ardene and I'm super happy with them. I will just make cool tags to personalize them :) Also check out the thread CANADIAN OOT BAG info...where to shop! because they have some good ideas. I've even connected with girls who live in the same city to share shipments of things :)

I just seriously got so sick of trying to find NICE bags!! Everything I saw seemed so cheap, and I'd have to spend time and money making them look nicer. Sooo I just caved haha! I also got thinking, guests like my 21 year old brother, and some of my fiance's single male friends aren't going to want a beach bag....so we trimmed down who we were giving them to. For the guys I'll just wrap the contents of the bag in cellophane! I also made some really cute tags so I'm happy with them :)

I just spent two days looking everywhere for bags. I checked the Ardene's and Claire's....nothing! Not even the nicer more expensive beach bags. I checked Michaels, and every other place I could think of.

Finally went to a different dollar tree and found some smaller totes for $1.25. I got navy blue ones for the single guys, purple for the single ladies, and orange and green for the couples. I'm still disappointed that I couldn't find anything else...I was even contemplating MAKING them from scratch. Oh well. Its just a reusable bag that the guests can use or throw out if they don't want to use it again. I'm not sure if I'm going to make a logo to put on them or not....What do you think? Should I add something to the front?

Everything JUST fits into them.

The tumblers just fit inside the bag.

Sorry about the photos being sideways...For some reason they keep turning themselves, even after I take them the correct way and save them in the right direction. WEIRD!

Totes are SOOOO tough to find!!! I think they're cute. :) I have plain bags with no logo or writing etc, but I made tags for them that I'm really happy with and got pretty ribbon to tie on as well. I also bought a martha stewart starfish/sandollar punch that I'm putting on everything haha! It seemed expensive to order bags with a wedding logo on them, and I don't want to mess around with iron on stuff! I'm spending that money on labels for the cups instead :)

That's how I felt too! I even asked some of my fiance's single male friends...beach bag or cellophane and they all said cellophane!!! lol. That cut my number down a bit as well. I also bought my mom and mother in law a different bag that will be part of their gift (I know my dad and father in law well enough to know they don't care about a beach bag either haha).

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
