Any Playacar Palace Brides 2014?

Recommended Posts

Hi. Just curious for the ladies that have just returned. What was the outside vendor fee that they charged, or were you able to go with day passes for outside photographers? Did anyone have an outside florist, and if so what did the resort charge for it if they did?

Thanks!

Hi acw271011!

The off site vendor fee is $800. I kept that money available in money budget just in case but ended up not being charged. We used an outside photographer, Ivan Luckie, and did not say anything to anyone at PP about it. The corp office that books all your vendors is going to ask but I just ignored the question and signed the contract. I did pay for the 2 guest passes for him & his assistant and PP actually credited me back for them about 3 weeks after the wedding! I also had an outside florist, Flores Riviera Maya, and was not charged. They literally drive up and hand you a box of the flowers and you are done! The wedding coordinator didn't say anything about it, either. We also were told that we would be charged $100 to have our own decor set-up (centerpieces from the florist, favors at each seat, guestbook, and escort cards) and they never did. My advice is to keep your mouth shut about what you are planning outside of the resort and just add guest passes if you think there is going to be a problem.

Happy Planning!!

Hi All!

Just got back this Monday from my wedding/ honeymoon at the Playacar Palace...so sad to be back to reality!! For anyone who is nervous or as stressed as I was...all I can say is chill out, they are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! We arrived 5 days before our wedding and met with Mara our planner and she put my mind right at ease! Mara was positively the best wedding coordinator I could have possibly imagined! She was on top of everything and made sure they all my requests were  met and even took my decorations to hold on to until the big day.

The night before the wedding we had a Welcome Reception on the Terrace, it was perfect! The waitstaff was EXCEPTIONAL! They took care of every guest and no one ever day an empty drink! We had the Mexican Cocktail Menu and it was very tasty! Ever after the reception was over we all sat to hang out on the couches and the waitstaff continued to dote on us and bring us bottles of Champagne and wine and anything we wanted from the bar!

The day of the wedding the boys went to the Mood Palace to golf, an outing set up by our awesome vacation planner Abigail, again another employee who was exceptional!! The girls hung out and began getting ready at two. We brought our own makeup artist and used the Styling Trio for Hair. The Styling Trio sent 2 hair stylists and they were awesome, quick, efficient and did a wonderful job!! My bridesmaids had a suite that looked down to the beach and deck where our wedding was to take place and it was so cool to see it all being set up all day! We also brought our own photographer as a guest. I bought flowers from Rivera Flores and they were beautiful! I was nervous we may be charged so I sent my brother who speaks Spanish and lives in Mexico to the florist to pick them up and everything went smooth!!

The wedding was a 6pm on the beach and again, PERFECT! Mara played my Ipad playlist for the entrances and she nailed it! The Justice of the Peace was good, but had trouble pronouncing my husbands name (Keith sounded like Kate lol, it became a joke for the weekend!). After the ceremony we did group pics on the beach and then we went into town to do couple pics and Mara took care of our guests. The cocktail hour was on the North Solarium and we had the Sushi Menu, again delicious and the bartenders had a signature cocktail that was yummy! The DJ was kind enough to play our Ipad playlist during the Cocktail Hour even though we brought a speaker.

The reception was on the Beach Deck and Mara set up our decorations perfectly (and didn't charge me for the setup!)!! We bought maracas in town as favors/table place cards and they were a hit!! Our DJ was Benji Solis from JSAV and he rocked! Kept everyone up and dancing and the night was awesome!! The waitstaff again was EXCEPTIONAL, and doted on us left and right, even offered to get us other food such as a steak that wasn't on the buffet! Make sure to tip them well because they sure do remember you!! :) Our cake was delicious as was the Caribbean Buffet!!  The night was really just perfect!!

The waitstaff from our reception remember us all the next week we were there and were just so sweet! I was also their for my birthday and they sent up Champagne and cupcakes to my room (also did this for a guest who had a birthday while she was there!). We had a guest who had a Gluten allergy and they were sooo good to her, gave her a special card to take to the restaurants and they made sure to give her special foods to accommodate!

Al the restaurants were great! Be sure to make Hibachi reservations early!! It was great to be at such a small resort where we saw all our guests all week (We had about 60 people stay there). The Spa was also wonderful, we had a couples massage, 2 25min massages and I had two mani and padis. Loved the hydrotherapy! The trips were ok, we rented a Cameramen with 20 of our family and friends to go snorkeling, which was fun but didn't see much fish! We also took the opportunity to visit Mood Palace and Isla Murjeres Palace...Playacar was definitely the best hotel of the ones we went too!

I could go on and on about how much I loved Playacar Palace- we will def be back often!!

I will post pics soon!!! :)

Just got back from Playacar and we had the most AMAZING time!!!!  The wedding coordinator we worked with at the resort is seriously superwoman (I'm convinced she's the reason the rain held out until after the reception).  Her name was Mara and anyone working with her in the future is certainly in capable hands!

We had a few hang ups with spa appointments and such, but compared to how amazing our overall trip was, they seem insignificant in retrospect.  This wedding has been a year in the planning with Playacar and I feel like I know that place inside and out by now.  If anyone has any questions, my email address is dru.allison5@@gmail.com.  Please feel free to ask!

I also want to mention that we brought our own photographer with us for the trip but still got the hour long photo shoot that came with the wedding package.  The photographer Julia that took those photos was so wonderful!  She even worked well with the photographer that we had brought so all of the pictures from both of them are unreal.  I would absolutely recommend their house photographers to anyone that is unsure.  Such wonderful ladies!!!!

Thanks for your review. Mara is my coordinator too. I Haven't had contact with her yet

This is precisely what I love to hear!! I honestly try to share with my brides that the smaller resorts are honestly the hotels that offer the best service and the most special moments. I personally prefer working with smaller hotels, their attention to detail is spot on and something that can lack in the larger mega resorts.

Happy Planning!!

Anyone who has booked can you please tell me how many days in advance you had to arrive? We are considering having our wedding on a "off day" to ensure that we get the locations we want for our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. My consultant at Palace resorts told me that on Friday and Saturday they hold a wedding almost every hour between 12-6.. That's crazy for such a small reort! I don't know how they even hold so many and where they put everyone! So I was told that because of this they cannot book a location for any of my events until two weeks prior to the wedding, which makes me really nervous! Thus us picking a week day....however we are told that we must arrive three business days prior to our wedding for a symbolic ceremony (so no arrival/travel day and no weekend days count) and four days in advance for a civil. So say we decided we wanted a symbolic and wanted to get married on a Monday, we would have to arrive the previous Tuesday! Seems like a lit to me, anyone else have any thoughts.

Thanks!

Hi there, I am getting married at Playacar November 6th, 2014 :) Just wondering how you went about booking styling trio? Do they come to the resort? If so, did you have to pay a vendor fee, or get them day passes ?? Also did the WC say anything about using outside florist ??

Thank you

We are getting married on a Friday and are arriving on a Tuesday. Our date is 6/17/16 I wanted to do the day before but my fiance said it's too many sixes. Plus, if people are like me they'll like the 6/16/16 pattern and Thursday will be booked

Styling Trio is a preferred vendor so no offsite vendor fee required! I used them for my May wedding at PP and they were absolutely amazing!!!! They come right to the resort, all they need is a room number. To book them, here's the email: stylingtriorivieramaya@@gmail.com. The owner, Adrian, is super chill and really justs wants to please you. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

As for off site florists, the question of flowers did come up but I told them that we were providing our own decor. I used Floreria Riveria and they dropped the flowers off in the lobby the morning of and we just brought them to the coordinator office to hold until the reception. They didn't ask any questions and set everything up as I instructed them (my one OCD thing was write up a detailed decor list since the coordinator would be doing the setup with any instruction). Alina was fantastic and very responsive and their pricing was easily 30% less then other florists I asked and everything was fresh and gorgeous. Here's their email if you need it: [email protected]

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
