Hi Natalie,

I was looking to get some more information about weddings at the Jellyfish. Is it pretty affordable? Do you think it would be possible to have a wedding there under $10,000?

Thanks!

Angie

Hey Angie! I got married at the Jellyfish a week ago and you HAVE TO do it! We had our reception and ceremony there and I can tell you that our decor and party were nothing like the weddings we saw back at our resort. My total for 29 people at the Jellyfish (including AMAZING food, all drinks, DJ, flowers, all decor, and a show that included stilt walkers, dominican dancers, capoeira dancers, and fire dancers) was almost exactly $6,000. We also hired a videographer ($1,500) and brought our photographer (ended up being $1,500 for travel expenses, he shot for free) All of our guests were raving about how unforgettable the wedding was and now my parents, who had never had a real wedding and never considered getting one, want to come back and finally have a real wedding at the Jellyfish too! The Jellyfish will probably cost a little extra than what you would pay with a resort package but TRUST ME... it's so, sooooooo worth it!

$6000 sounds really good! If you don't mind sharing... did you do open bar for cocktail hour? and how many hours open bar did you do for the reception? The bar is what seems to eat up a lot of the cost

DJ?

Extra for a better cake?

Extra for more pics/video?

Extra for better decor?

Extra for Bar/Private Dinner?

I want to make sure my $10k budget isn't unreasonable.

Thanks! cheesy.gif

Congratulations!

I think you will be fine with your $10,000 budget! I am also flying with Transat Holidays from Toronto!

We are staying at the Paradisus Punta Cana. Our package is $3500 for the first 24 people - we have 80 coming - so that's where we will be spending a lot of money as the resort charges $70/per person.

We are aiming for $12,000 max. and that's with photography. It sounds like your resort offers a great package!

We are saving money by making our own centrepieces, and not buying any flowers, etc.

I know some resorts charge for all you can drink booze and that, so we are lucky that is included, but pretty much every single little thing is extra!!

Good luck and happy planning! All the best!

I'm budgeting for $10,000 at the Jellyfish.

& just to add.. Mayte is no longer fast at getting back to you (Jellyfish is booked into 2015 so she's super busy!) but I have only heard amazing things about her and the Jellyfish.
My favourite part is that she decorates from pictures you send her, and so far every picture I've seen has been gorgeous.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
