Hand & Sand Ceremony?

Recommended Posts

I am really in love with both the hand ceremony as well as the sand ceremony and can not decide which one I love more, or if I should do both. If I were to do both, I worry about the flow. Does anyone have any direction or ideas on how I could incorporate both? Or any advice to just go with one or the other?

We are going to do both..although instead of sand, we are having water ceremony. The Water Ceremony will go right after the readings and then afer we say our vows and before the rings are put on our fingers, we are going to have the Hand Ceremony.  This is the Script we are using:

  • WATER CEREMONY
The boys hold the containers of yellow water. Yellow is the color of sunshine. The color yellow represents joy and happiness. It also stands for wisdom.
The girls hold the container of blue water. First prize gets the blue ribbon. Blue represents confidence and trust. A "true blue" friend is faithful and trustworthy.
Etienne and Lydia, this vessel between you represents your marriage. It is a new beginning in your relationship with each other.

As the yellow water is poured into the container, you bring sunshine and wisdom to your family. And as the blue water is poured into the container, you bring confidence, trust and loyalty to your family.

The blending of the yellow and blue water creates green, representing the blending of your lives together. The color green represents stability, endurance, growth and harmony.
May your marriage reflect these qualities. May your energies in this marriage blend just as equally as you give freely of yourself while honoring the greatness of each other. May you always need one another, not so much to fill the emptiness as to help each other know your fullness.

  • HAND/RING CEREMONY
Lydia and Etienne please hold hands, looking at each other.
As an expression that you are joined together in love - will you please hold one anotherâ€s hands, so you may feel the gift that you are to each other.

As you gaze upon each otherâ€s hands, know that these are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of love for you, that are holding yours on your wedding day as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow, and forever.
These are the hands that will work alongside yours as together you build your future.
These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, and with the slightest touch, will comfort you like no other.
These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief fills your mind.
These are the hands that will wipe the tears from your eyes; tears of sorrow and tears of joy.
These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it.
These are the hands that will help you to hold your family as one.
And lastly, these are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged will still be reaching for yours, and will still comfort you with their touch and same unspoken tenderness that comforts you tonight.

  • THE GIVING AND RECEIVING OF RINGS

May I have the rings please.
Etienne, please repeat after me:
Lydia, I give you this ring, that you may wear it, as a symbol of the vows, we have made this day. I pledge you my love, and respect, my laughter and my tears. With all that I am I honour you.

Lydia, please repeat after me:
Etienne, I give you this ring that you may wear it as a symbol of the vows we have made this day. I pledge you my love and respect, my laughter and my tears. With all that I am I honour you.

Now bless the giving of these rings, that those who wear them may live in love all their days.

These are all great ideas. I was thinking about doing a ring blessing where the rings are passed around to the guests and they say a blessing (of course silently to themselves). I just have no idea about the wording but this will take place while me, FI, and step children complete the san ceremony. Give me some ideas ladies :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
