Grand Sunset Princess 2014 Bride!!!!

Recommended Posts

We wanted to do the 10 day stay, but turns out that Sunwing doesn't do their 10 day vacations until primetime in December out of Winnipeg....so we will be doing the 7 days with our group and hopefully get away on a private honeymoon in the Spring instead.  I think 10 days would be awesome because you will be able to kick back and relax more..

Hey!  That's so exciting!  Your wedding is fast approaching!  yay

I am going to be doing 10 days.  I wanted to arrive before our guests and just chill for a bit, catch up on a tan and actually enjoy my time with FI.  I suspect we are going to be so busy that week and it will be nice to have a few days completely on our own.

We will also do our own honeymoon later on.

Hello ladies!

I am leaving for the Grand Sunset Princess to get married in just 1 more day!!!!

Quick question:  for the ceremony and also the dj at night - for specific songs you want played, can they plug into your phone?  Or do you need to bring a cd with songs for ceremony and reception?

Thanks!

Hello everyone!

I just got back from my wedding at the Grand Sunset Princess! For all of you who are planning a wedding at this location and are looking for more information:

- the resort is HUGE. If you are a bride who feels like you would get stressed not knowing where everyone is, be cautious of this resort. It's massive with many different types of rooms. Ex: guests in platinum rooms cannot go into villa section, guests in Deluxe suite cannot go into platinum. You could go days without even seeing your guests because the resort is so large. Also there are many different buffets and lobbies. Luckily our guests all stayed in the same types of room and areas.

- food at the resort is okay, nothing special or amazing. Same with our reception meal as well. But as far as Mexico, that's common. The food just won't be like it is at home.

- our wedding planner was Guillermo and he was more than helpful. He met all our needs and expectations. I would highly recommend him! Very professional and polite as well.

- our ceremony was at the Riviera gazebo on the beach which was amazing. We previously got engaged in the exact same location so it was beautiful to also be married there. Minister was great as well.

- we went for our reception at the Ibiza ballroom. We wanted something a little more traditional and private. For those with bigger parties (30 people or more) I would highly recommend this. However it is a little more costly because you are paying extra for the meal per person, and also to rent the ballroom. But SO worth it as it is your own private party for the night. The dj was awesome as well. I honestly could not be more happy with how the reception went!

- hair and make-up: those of you who have heard horror stories about this at destination weddings: do not worry! The staff at the spa who do hair and make-up do an amazing job! I brought in a picture of what I was looking for and they got it perfect. Could not complain, and I can be picky with this sort of thing. You won't be disappointed!

- photography did an amazing job. The wedding photos in the book they gave us are so beautiful. Even though there is no editing, there doesn't need to be. The pictures itself with the background is breathtaking. A lot of my guests said the pictures are so perfect (with the background) that it looked fake.

It's hard to say anything negative about the wedding itself because I was so happy with how everything went. It was such a great experience and all you future brides will not be disapointed! If you have any questions just let me know! I was once in your position and couldn't get enough information about the resort and wedding details.

This resort is very well known for weddings (up to 4 a day) so if it takes a while for your wedding planner to get back to you, that's why! They do such a great job. You have made a great decision to have your wedding at the Grand Sunset Princess!

Hello!!  Congrats!  So happy to hear that all went well!!

It sounds like your wedding was amazing!

I have a few questions for you

1.  Did you happen to visit the new hotel at all?  We are getting married next year and our guests with kids are staying at the grand sunset and the non kids are staying at the adults only.

2.  Which reception menu did you pick?

3. Do you have any pictures of how you decorated the Riviera gazebo?

4.  did you have the cocktail drinks after the ceremony?

5.  Did you use a resort photographer?  We still haven't made any decisions about photos yet.

So happy it went well!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
