I know it is soon but to all Riu Palace 2014 brides. I know there are a lot of Riu palace threads out there but have not seen one really geared to the 2014 brides, so I thought we could start a new one to share our wedding dates and information/details as the plans come together.

My wedding date is January 25th, 2014

I am having about 50 guests

Wedding coordinator is:

Music: We are getting the marachai band & bringing our own Dj for reception, and I think a violinst for the cermony

Beach ceremony at 4pm

Blush & White color scheme

Ordered my wedding dress at Stardust in Dallas, no BM's

Photographer: I am searching for a good one any suggestions?

Booking hair and makeup with Susan Morel

Reception: I am not sure where to have it with 50 people. Also as far as dinner goes I am not sure either. Does anyone have an advice who may have gotten married there in 2013? I would appreciate it!!

Hi Lacyb123!

First of all, congratulations!

I am also getting married at the Riu Palace! Our wedding date is April 8, 2014

We haven't set a certain Wedding Coordinator yet, we have just being emailing back and forth a couple times.

We are also having a 4 pm beach ceremony - have you figured out your décor for the beach yet?

For our music, we read a bunch of reviews and actually are probably going to use an ipod and just rent the equipment, and have our own MC.

We have also been looking into photography and debating bringing our own or using a Cabo vendor.

I am having my sisters/bridal party help with my hair and makeup.

We have not finalized the reception either - maybe gearing for the beach!

hi hi!!

First of all congrats!!! I have decided not to do it at the RIU. My mom and I went down there a few months ago to go make sure it was what I wanted. Thankfully we did go and I decided not to do it there. I had a certain idea in my head about what I wanted and when I got there I was overwhelmed with everything, and the location, and amount of people, and rooms. So we decided to switch location to anything much much smaller hotel and location.

We are also doing a beach ceremony at 5pm, my decor for the beach is a large wooden piece I am drapping pink sheers over with a small amount of flowers. I will also be doing flower peatles down the isle. I am trying to keep it all very simple. During the ceremony I am having a harpist play then for the reception we got a DJ.  I do not have a photographer yet I will take whatever one they got I am very laid back about that stuff. Also, hair and make up I may do my own or see what the hotel has to offer. Our reception is on the beach around a bon fire, we are doing a 5 course plated dinner, then cake and dj/dancing. All this was in our package they did not have any other choices but it worked out.

I wish you the best of luck and if you have any other questions feel free to e-mail me at lacyb123@gmail.com

My wedding date is July 4th, 2014

Only 6 guests

Music: We are bringing our own Ipod and dock

White & Red colors

Photographer: I don't want to spend much on this...has anyone heard of someone doing their own photographs?

Reception: We are going to incorporate our semi-private dinner into our reception to avoid too many extra costs

Hi Ladies~

Congrats to everyone on their upcoming weddings!!! We are getting married at the RIU Palace on April 28th, 2014. Soooo excited! I've been to the RIU in Puerta Vallarta for a wedding and it was the best wedding/vacation i've ever been on so i'm super excited to go to the RIU in Cabo.

We are doing the 6pm wedding at the San Jose Gazebo and hopefully the reception on the Baja Notre terrace. I'm a bit nervous about getting our desired reception location since their are 4 weddings that day. We plan on having  the works: marachi band, DJ, dance floor, and debating the fireworks. Our first date was a fireworks show so we thought it would be fun to incorporate them into our wedding.

Planning on around 30-50 people

Colors: Coral & Tan

Photos: My best friend will be doing them

Videographer: We are hired a videographer from home who will be traveling with us.

Hair and Makeup: Planning on going through the famous Susan Morel

Dinner: Planning on have a buffet

Good luck to all the 2014 Cabo Brides!!!!! Can't wait to see pics and hear all the great stories!!!

Hi ryliemichelle! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! For our photography we are most likely bringing a photographer from our home town. Their deal usually is a less expensive cost for the day of shooting, and another day or so, but you pay for their week. This usually works out about the same cost as a local photographer anyway! Good luck with your planning!

Hello all!

My wedding date has been set for Friday 10/03/2014, however if I want it at the Riu, I will have to push it back a week to 10/10/2014.

I am also considering (still looking at other places) the RIU Palace hotel. Its gorgeous! I have been reading reviews and a little skeptical but the scenery is everything I could have imagined. I want the San Jose Gazebo location and would love to have my reception at the Terraza Baja Norte location. I def want the private atmosphere even thought the Caprice package comes with a semi-private dinner. Plus the prices for the packages is very decent. The only thing I heard about this resort is that its VERY strict.

I hope to hear from someone at the resort soon!

Take care and congrats!

Hello all, I am new to this site, and for some reason am starting to stress out about the wedding I know it is far away, but I really don't know reception areas, extra pricing etc. It is driving my fiancé and I nuts. He tried to change the time of the wedding but it looks to be booked for that whole day :(. We chose 6 but when we were thinking about it pictures are after and does not leave a lot of time for a reception. Now I am wondering if I will be able to choose my reception area before the others or if I am going to have to settle for what is available.

My wedding date is June 7, 2014

I am having about 60 to 70 guests

Wedding coordinator is:

Music: Still wondering if we should et a DJ (and MC)???

Beach ceremony at 6pm

Tiffany Blue, tan/beige/sand & White color scheme

Ordered my wedding dress, Bridemaids dresses are picked out. We are letting them choose from 3 styles.

Photographer: Not sure yet as we have not spoken with Riu about this also any info on this is very helpful as well as videographer.

Hair and makeup will be done by my sister in law

Reception: We would like it on the beach or Baja Norte. Would like to have private.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
