LADIES.......smile41.gif

Ok, so I love DC, & I think it's probably one of the most beautiful resorts in Cancun, however, I'm having second thoughts about marrying there for a few personal reasons. Can you girls please help me. I initially wanted to get married @ DT, but was very concerned w/ my guests enjoying themselves, so this is why I had chosen DC. However, I really want a DT wedding.

I understand it is not as much of a "party-spot" as DC, but at least I'll have what I wanted. At this point I'm begging for advice. I want my guests to have fun, but I don't want to neglect my wishes either you know. Anyway, please...please...please help me decide dizzy.gif. Sorry for the long list of questions but I really need to know anything there is to know about DT. Thanks girls :)

*How are you girls going about entertainment for your guests?

*What TA are you girls using?

*Does their packages include a Mariachi band?

*Does anyone know how close DT is to EDR?

*What are the options for ceremony, and reception sites?

*I would love to see pics, if you can find the time to share.

*I heard DT is about two hours away from the airport, how are your

guests getting from the airport to the resort?

*What activities does Tulum offer?

*Are any of you ladies honeymooning @ EDR?

I think you should go with the place you really want. Your guests will enjoy themselves regardless of where they are.

I am not worrying too much about entertainment for my guest at DT. From other posts here I've heard they have nightly entertainment and there is a disco on the property as well and that should be enough for my group. I may add live music like a mariachi or guitarist for just the ceremony but other than that I think my guests will have a good time just being on the beach and spending time together.

I chose DT because of the beautiful beach and the ruins near by and I would hate to compromise my vision of my wedding in order to please everyone in our group. Remember you can't make everying happy all the time, my view is go with what your heart wants and those around you will follow your lead in enjoying themselves. But if you are not happy on your day because you wanted it someplace else, then your guests will be able to tell and not enjoy themselves as much.

To answer some of your questions:

I'm going with Tammy(host) as my TA and so far I would recommend her and I think she arranges transfers from the airport to the resort.

Since I am pretty frugal, I'm going with the smallest package because it is complementary when booking a certain # rooms/nights.

Ceremony sites include beach and very cute chapel, but there may be other sites around the resort. I would do a search for Tulum on this site and read other posts. There is one with pdf attachments of DT's packages. Also, try TripAdvisor.com for pictures and reviews from actual people who have been to DT.

Sorry don't know anything about EDR. Good luck and follow your heart and everything will turn out just fine.

thanks for the referral wink.gif i actually meant to post that dreams tulum is having a sale and most dates are in the $220-230 per night range for double occupanyc so it is a good time to book or try to block rooms at this rate.

I am working on a room block now at Dreams tulum for 2008 and we are getting rates as low as $109 per person (double occupancy).

Those prices seem really good...our wedding is april 2008 and have been working directly with the hotel. They quoted us more than this??! How did you get the group rate?

Thanks! Leah

*How are you girls going about entertainment for your guests?

As far as entertainment for the reception, we plan to rent the IPOD speaker system and have a lot of music for dancing and such. Once it gets later and we have to turn it off (10 or 11 I think), we plan to head to the disco.

As far as entertain during the week, we plan to organize a few excursions that are optional for our guests. We are thinking about a fishing trip for the guys while the girls go to PDC shopping for the day. I am also thinking of possibly doing a day at Xel-ha or something similar.

*What TA are you girls using?

I used a local TA but am kinda wishing I used Tami who has more experience with DW's. We ended up booking through Apple Vacations.

*Does their packages include a Mariachi band?

We are booking the Ultimate Wedding package which includes a Mexican Trio.

*Does anyone know how close DT is to EDR?

I believe it is approx 30 mins or so but I may be wrong.

*What are the options for ceremony, and reception sites?

You can have your wedding in the gazebo, in the chapel, or on the beach. I am not sure but you may also be able to have your ceremony at other locations such as the grand staircase near the lobby.

*I would love to see pics, if you can find the time to share.

I will post everything I have asap.

*I heard DT is about two hours away from the airport, how are your

guests getting from the airport to the resort?

We booked our trip through Apple Vacations, which includes R/T transportation.

*What activities does Tulum offer?

They offer:

Daily Activities

Theme dinners

Weekly beach party

Tennis

Bicycles

Ping-pong

Catamarans

Diving clinic

Table games

Soccer

Bocce ball

Bike tour to Tulum

Sailing

Windsurfing

Snorkeling

Shuffle board

Water aerobics

Dance lessons

Volleyball

Euro-Bungee

Ocean trampoline

Iceberg climbing wall

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
