I know that you posted about your son's wedding a year ago now, but I was wondering if you could answer a few questions for me. I too would like to build my own package from the complementary package they provide you with. We are set for a beach ceremony at this time, but I am strongly thinking about changing my mind based on reviews that it is not private enough, and opting for the fountain ceremony instead. Did you pay extra for the fabric on the gazebo? Also did you feel that just having the reception with no cocktail hour was plenty? And did you opt for the dj at the reception?

Thanks so much

Hey Ladies!

So I'm getting married March 16,2016 (only about 7 weeks away!!!)

Just wondering if anyone can help me out. . i have a few questions.

1. I am planning a buffet dinner at the relaxing pool and for budget reasons, only want to book the 3 hours .. but im concerned people will take a long time and putt around eating and we wont have a lot of time to dance and party .. has anyone else done this ? feedback ?

2. I am contemplating renting the bridal suite .. but i don't know if any of us will get our hair done at the spa .. is it worth it to rent the suite, or should we just get ready in my room ( i only have 4 bridesmaids)

3. I wasn't planning on doing any extra decoration, just have the tables set up with the plate settings and that be it .. has anyone else done this? Have any pictures of what it would look like?

Thanks so much :)

Hey Ladies!

So I'm getting married March 16,2016 (only about 7 weeks away!!!)

Just wondering if anyone can help me out. . i have a few questions.

1. I am planning a buffet dinner at the relaxing pool and for budget reasons, only want to book the 3 hours .. but im concerned people will take a long time and putt around eating and we wont have a lot of time to dance and party .. has anyone else done this ? feedback ? We did a sit down dinner at the Carnival Terrace and stuck with the 3 hours.  I, too, was concerned with it being enough time.  I hired the MC and DJ and they kept things moving.  I also announced at the end of the reception that anyone that wanted to continue the party to come with me to the dance club.  Everyone except the elderly came to the after party.

2. I am contemplating renting the bridal suite .. but i don't know if any of us will get our hair done at the spa .. is it worth it to rent the suite, or should we just get ready in my room ( i only have 4 bridesmaids) I booked the bridal suite and I only had 3 bridesmaids.  We all had our hair done at the salon and 2 of us had make-up done there.  If you plan to do getting ready pictures, the bridal suite is very convenient to some nice shots and the before ceremony pictures are great on the grounds near the salon.  For $150, I think it was money well spent.

3. I wasn't planning on doing any extra decoration, just have the tables set up with the plate settings and that be it .. has anyone else done this? Have any pictures of what it would look like? No centerpieces or anything?  No elements of color?  It's your wedding so do what is best for you, but personally I think that would look very bland.  People have come a long way, they will want to see that you put some effort into it.  Just my opinion.

Thanks so much :)

Another thought .. those who used the resort DJ .. did you give a play list of songs to play??

When you book the DJ they send you a spreadsheet to fill out.  I listed numerous songs that I wanted included.  The DJ did an amazing job.  I think he only played one song that I didn't like.

hey all! just booked my wedding for 4/11/15 :) Anyone doing a beach reception? Im a little concerned about the lighting - I read earlier in the thread that some people thought it was pretty dark eating on the beach. any ideas for lighted centerpieces and how the hell to get all these things there? lol

Just wondering, how was the lighting for your wedding? i am also planning to do a beach reception.

Hey ladies!

I got married on the beach and my guest stayed at Now Larimar/Secrets Royal Beach. If you are still looking for a videographer and photographer, I highly recommend Wedding Roll.

Here's our highlight video with drone footage:

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
