Freak out

-Kate-

Recommended Posts

Ok - so all along we've been talking about a December 2008 Cabo wedding. We just decided to up it to Dec 2007. What's a year, right?

Oh, BTW, I'm freaking out hissyfit.gif about this.

I've started emailing the photog we want and various wedding planners. The big thing is that we need to pic the venue.

I really have no questions in this post - just needed to verbalize (typalize) all the things we need to do asap so I feel a bit more in control. Whew.

You will be fine Lala! You have 13 months before Dec 07. It's not a problem. We are getting married in March 07, and I didn't start even contemplating anything until late May 06. YOU CAN DO IT!

How many guests do you plan on? Do you want a beach wedding? Church wedding? Terrace wedding? Do you think an all inclusive fits your style, or do you prefer a boutique hotel feel? If you can answer some of those questions, we can definitely help you narrow down your venue options.

Thanks for talking me down off the ledge. I know we have a ton of time to plan this thing. It was just a momentary freak out when my original time was cut in half. But really, I'd probably go crazy if I had to wait 2 years so this is definitely a good decision.

After talking with Tammy we are leaning toward the PB resorts. We really want a low room rate for our guests - it's our #1 priority. A lot of our friends are teachers/non-profit workers or just had their own wedding so we don't want to demand too much of them.

We want a beach wedding, are inviting a little over 100 peeps, and really want good food. We aren't picky about AI or not - we'd do it if the costs made sense for our guests. We've stayed at the Sheraton before and love it, but based on the non-responsivenes other girls have gotten regarding weddings we are thinking "no" to them. We like the corridor but aren't opposed to being in Cabo. We wouldn't want to be much further from Cabo than Sheraton/Dreams.

grouphug.gif to all for calming my freakout.

I'm courious, where did you hear that the Sheraton was being non-responsive? It's one of the places I'm considering having our ceremony and dinner and they are slow in responding but since I'm still 7 months out I'm sure it will be better as the time approches. (so I've heard)

I remember reading on here a while ago that they don't have a wedding coordiantor (just a group coordinator) and one of the Hilton brides said she didn't get the warm-fuzzy feeling when she went there for her visit.

If you hear/find out differently let me know bc we LOVED staying there. It was so relaxing, beautiful rooms, fab property. Plus, the room rates are good for our guests.

I'm getting married at the Sheraton in June. Irma is the coordinator there. She is really a sweetheart. She is sometimes slow to respond, but always does get back to me. She works 6 days a week and is very busy (Tuesday is her day off). I met her on my site vast back in August and she was really helpful and seemed to be very attentive to the brides who were getting married the weekend that I visited.

The Sheraton does strongly suggest that you use a wedding coordinator. As I understand it, Irma is really only responsible for the food and beverage portion. (I haven't hired one yet)

Anyway, in my opinion Irma has been responsive and accommodating.

The only thing that I've found annoying is that they charge you a 10% fee if you want to alter the menu, I.e., nix the dessert and add an extra appetizer instead. There is not an extra to fee to cut the dessert completely, only if you want to substitute. Also the open bar prices are high, but that seems to be the case everywhere in Cabo

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
