Will You Be My Bridesmaid Cards - Handmade

Recommended Posts

Hello! I just finished making my Will You Be My Bridesmaid Cards, and thought this would be the perfect place to share.

It came from this tutorial http://www.glamourandgraceblog.com/2011/diy-watercolor-will-you-be-my-bridesmaid-cards/
I wasn't creative and copied it... didn't use the template though, I just wrote it as is so it might be nicer than this if you choose to use the template.

Another tip is that a white pencil did NOT work for me. I used a crayon and it did work so I would recommend doing a small test-strip before doing a whoe care.

Our wedding colours are blue and purple so I tried to incorporate that.. it was my first time using water colours though so I'm not sure it worked out. But I'm happy with them!

I added a royal blue scrap book page to the inside and wrote a note. I have already asked my bridesmaids but am sending them a package with their dress and a Diamond Candle (candle with a ring inside) to them once the candles arrive.

How did you ask your bridesmaids? Only one of my bridesmaids live in the same city that I do, so I took her out for coffee, the rest had to be on the phone. What'd you do?

Very neat, I love the colours!!!

For my MOH, I hadn't seen her in nearly two years. We actually had a big falling out last January (2012), and we no longer friends. I apologized to her late August for my behaviour but she was not having it. Was still very angry/hurt/ said she didn't care. However, when we got engaged in September it killed me that she couldn't be the first person I shared it with. I substituted with work friends and another life long friend (our engagement also mended this friendship as we didn't go to her DW in August but went on vacation in September sad.gif). It still wasn't everything, so when we got back and after everyone had started reacting to our news, I quickly sat down on the couch and sent her a text. I explained how despite the fact that we weren't friends, she was there through a huge part of our relationship, and I just wanted to let her know we had gotten engaged. I didn't hear back from her for almost 2 days, and when I did, it was everything. She said she had gotten right after I had sent it, but didn't know how to respond. She was touched, and she cried, and she realized all the things she had said to me the month before weren't true, she did miss me, she did miss our friendship, and she was so happy for me.

Since then we have talked as much as we can (She is out in Calgary, I am in Toronto). She came home for Christmas and we finally saw each other on December 28th. It was her birthday on the 27th, so I got her a few DVD's of movies I know she loves, but doesn't own. I also got her a big giant fake ring, and a maid of honour button. I put that together in a small box, with the ring nestled in a bunch of tissue paper, and the button front and centre when she opened the box. She cried when she opened it, and said yes. Despite all of our past issues, there isn't anyone that could replace her standing next to me.

My other bridesmaid, a beautiful, wonderful friend who I have known for over 12 years, I simply asked her through text haha. We were talking wedding stuff, and her precious baby girl, and I just asked. Very informal, nothing special, but I was terrified of asking her, because I bailed on her for her wedding this past August, so she had absolutely every single right to say no to me. But she didn't and has taken a vested interest in helping me plan and being very involved. I appreciate her being the bigger person and getting over my horrible friendship moment with her, and being genuinely happy for me.

I have amazing friends and I take them for granted. Not any more!

Your friends are going to absolutely love those cards! What a beautiful memory! woot2.gif

I definitely think it's better to ask; if they say no, you did all you could, but you won't regret not asking & wondering what would have happened. I'm so glad that the your bridesmaids all said yes.
Sounds like your friendships are going to change for the better because of your marriage!
Thanks for sharing your story with me. embarrassed.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
