Jessica, I think 5 months may be a little too early to have them RSVP by, because you will probably get a LOT of people who will say they can go, but then alot can change in 5 months and you may end up having a lot of last minute drop outs..  I am doing my RSVP deadline 15 days after the entire balance is due to the travel agent (1.5 months before the wedding)- that way everyone will have a pretty good idea that either they ARE or aren't going to be attending.

Mady, I did not write my guests names on the RSVP cards in case one person can go and maybe the other cant, so Id leave it to them to write that info in.

The week before my rsvp deadline i will contact people who havent responded, reminding them to mail the rsvp cards. Its a pain but i rather not have people attempt to show up last minute and inconvenience me.

I was thinking of only writing the names of single people on the RSVP cards so that they know they can bring a guest. I keep reading that it's not good etiquette to put the invitees name "and guest" on the outer envelope.

I'm getting married May 18 and I gave my guests until March 1.  Good luck!

If you have inner envelopes, you can put the invitee name on the envelope and guest on this envelope while on the outer envelope just address it to the invitee. This shows the invitee they can invite a guest and gets over the "good etiquette" problem.

That's my problem, I don't think I will be offered an inner envelope from the company that is doing my invitations.

I think 2 months is standard, but I could be wrong.  My last marriage I sent them out 2 months prior to the wedding.

This was so helpful. We'll aim to have the RSVP around 2 months or so before the wedding day.

Also, I am fully prepared to chase people down lol! This is something I actually don't mind doing as I can usually come across as quite gentle hahah :) But I will push if need be! LOL

We hope to finalize our wedding date by May sometime, and then we will be sending out Save the Dates electronically ASAP. Wedding date likely in early march or may of 2014. I really want people to get Save the Dates early early!!!
