I am surprised you ladies have the rsvp date so close to the wedding. Mine is next year April, and i am trying to get my guests to rsvp by next months, 9 months before wedding. first, i want to know how many people for reception/ catamarian cruise purposes ( i need to choose either depend on how many guests), then, I am scared if they don't reserve now, the price will go up especially for both flights and hotel, I don't want my guests to pay more than they have to. Third, after the guests reserves, I can finally get ready and prepare the DIY boarding pass mail invitation. But, true, I know some guests can't make the decision until a lot closer to the wedding date, i understand that. But i wish the majority of people would respond.

I agree, but people tend to be slow.  I know the venue I selected if pricier than some so I'm hoping to get 30 people or less.

Hi Backy, Being less than 2 months away now and all our RSVPs are in, I can say I never want to go through that experience again. Good luck in trying to get people to give you a solid answer that far in advance. We tried that and it didn't work. We also thought we were having a very small intimate wedding around 20-25 people since no one was contacting us. Two days before the RSVPs were due, we received 20 more confirmations. We are now 40 strong staying at the resort and 10 staying outside the resort. Have fun!!!!

I make them do a deposit when they book now, so i know they are serious in coming.

I hope yours come/came in!  I am 2 days before my due date, and there are still 76 RSVPs to come in!  I can't believe it!

Question for all of you....how far in advance did you send your save the dates? Our wedding is Oct. 25, 2014 and I just ordered save the dates. I will be moving to another state in Aug. or Sept. and really kinda wanted to grt these done before then, but my FH's sister is having a DW in Oct. of this year and I don't want to send them out before her wedding if it will make her uncomfortable. Should I just wait until we get back from her wedding? Would it bother you if you were her? Any advice would be appreciated.

I really thought about having the RSVP by March, I am an August 2014 bride, and I really want to know how many OOT bags I need to make, I am not in a situation to be making more just in case, I figure if people are going to go, they will know when they receive their STD's, is not like they will sit and think, oh, can I go? do I have something else so do in a year? My STD are going out this weekend.

I send RSVP's back the minute they come in my mailbox, so I don't know why people wouldn't do the same, come on, you know if you are going to attend or not, being lazy/rude and postponing a reply "just because" is something else.

I do foresee that inconveniences happen and I could get a couple of cancellations but I really need to know how many people are coming before I start making myself crazy with tons of DIY that I will never use. Lets say, booking a DJ, is something I will only do if I have enough people so just and ipod will not suffice, so yes, I need to book the DJ at least 6 months in advance, how do I do this if I don't know how many people are coming?

The reason STD's for a wedding go out at least a year in advance is so people can plan accordingly and decide if they are going to be able to afford it and/or want to attend. So if I go through all the work of being ready, sending things ahead of time, holding rooms down with my own money, why can they reply 5/6 months in advance? A vacation is not something that you decide the day before you go.

If people are going to wait 2 days before the RSVP date to do it, then let that be 5 months in advance so I can plan. jiggy.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
