I think we are going to end up doing something a little different for our cocktail hour/reception.

It is only our close family who is making the trek to Mexico for the wedding (about 16) so we have decided to not have a traditional reception.  We have instead extended our cocktail hour to two hours and completely eliminated our reception.  I thought it might be a little odd to have only 2 round tables of 8 in a large space plus pay for all the decor/set up in another location.  Our ceremony is on the beach as well as our cocktail hours.  We have decided to get a bali bed and some other lounge furniture as well as the high bar tables.  I've spoken to Christina (my coordinator) and it's totally fine to do this.  We will have more (double) h'orderves served than a normal one hour cocktail hour and will do our first dance, father daughter dance, kind words from those who want to say a little something all on the beach during the cocktail hours.  We then will all go for dinner at either Ciao(Italian) or Zen(Asian) restaurants.

What is everyone else planning to do?

That is such a great idea!  I wish I would have thought of that.  We are having the ceremony on the beach at 6pm.  Then, pictures are to follow immediately afterwards.  At 7:30, I have a 2 hour dinner planned on the Infinity Terrace for 26 people.  We will have 4 tables set up and we will serve the Mediterranean Buffet.  After dinner we will do the champagne toasts and cake.  Then we will just go to the hotel's "discotheque" for the rest of the night.  I tried to do things as simple as possible and not waste money.

Oh, that sounds wonderful too!  I was also looking for ways to cut costs down a bit and these seems to be a nice solution.

I am curious when your wedding is?  They told me that during certain months 6pm was not an option, the latest ceremony time is 4pm in February so that is what we went with.

Also – I found out from Christina that real candles are allowed but apparently never go over well because they just get blown out (especially by the beach) so if you plan to do a candle lit effect you should take the LED ones.

I know alot of us have been wanting to see photos of a wedding at the Hard Rock Cancun so when scouring the internet I came across these!

Hello Hard Rock brides! Thanks Curlygirlinpearl for sharing our links, so kind of you! The original poster of this thread GadyInc was such a terrific bride and we thank her for sharing this Del Sol Photography Review here on BDWF!~ Here are just a few shots from her pretty day. The timing of weddings in Cancun is important as you do lose the light at different hours during different seasons, definitely listen to the coordinators advice on this!

So I just saw this! Yes we did choose HRC. May 3, 2014! We chose 4pm. We wanted 6pm but the coordinator and our travel agent said it would get dark really fast and may not be best for pictures. We aren't sure if we will do a first look so we decided to do 4pm

Did you end up choosing Hard Rock Hotel Cancun?  I wish there were more photos and brides who have shared their experience on here so we can get an idea of what to expect! [/quote

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
