Help finding affordable honeymoon Tulum/Cancun

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I've gotten FI to say he wants to stay two weeks in Mexico for our wedding. So I"m on a mission to find the perfect honeymoon resort, but I still want to be somewhat frugal so I was thinking of moving resorts when our guest leave Dreams Tulum. I want something more affordable that has romantic potential, it doesn't have to be 4star or anything fancy. Just nice, clean and decent food.

It can be in Cancun or somewhere between Cancun and Tulum since we fly out of Cancun anyways.

I'm also asking Tammy(TA) for advice on this, but wanted some feedback from others who will do/have done two resorts/hotels.

Advice on going with a non- all inclusive would be appreciated as well.

Thank you!

Happy Friday!

My FI and I also want to switch hotels after the guests leave. We are not doing a big honeymoon as we travel to amazing places every year but we do want to get away as husband and wife if only for a few days. We will be married in Cancun and will probably honeymoon on Isla Mujeres at Villa Rolandi.

Another suggestion might be to take the ferry over to Cozumel? Check out Reviews of vacations, hotels, resorts, vacation and travel packages - TripAdvisor There are many hotels that are very reasonable in price.

Good luck!

You're going to be tired - definitely switch resorts.

We went to three locations (ranked in order of preference) and LOVED the whole honeymoon:

-La Casa Que Canta - This is the most amazing place! It's expensive, but such good food (the food isn't expensive, just the lodging) and SOOO relaxing. It's just what we needed right after the wedding. Note - there is a party boat that is out until 2:30 or 3 in the cove. Either be on the party boat or don't stay there on a Saturday as you'll be awake. Tell them you want the Besame Mucho room (I think it's room 10) -It's the best room: A romantic resort - La Casa Que Canta

-Hacienda Santa Rosa in the Yucatan. This place is really amazing and beautiful and peaceful - you can hire a driver to take you around to all the pyramids - it's SO great. Luxury Collection Santa Rosa Hotels: Hacienda Santa Rosa - Hotel Rooms at luxury.com

-Hacienda Temozon - Great place, less convenient that Santa Rosa Luxury Collection Temozon Sur Hotels: Hacienda Temozon - Hotel Rooms at luxury.com

We were also looking at Hacienda Campeche - I would recommend it over Temozon

Option #1: Take a boat over to Isla Mujeres and honeymoon there. The best lodging choices I have found are Ixchel Condos (beachfront at Playa Norte); or, Casa Sirena, a darling B&B in town and walking distance to the beach Casa Sirena

Option #2: Tulum faves: Mezzanine boutique hotel looks so chic: mezzanine | tulum, mexico ; or you could also stay at Tierras del Sol which is a small hotel with beach cabanas. Rustic but romantic!

As for All Inclusive being better than staying at a small hotel and eating out, I really can't say. I don't stay in AI's.

Those are some great suggestions, but FI just informed me last night that he wanted to go with another All Inclusive for our honeymoon. He wants the convinience of having it all just in case. I would love to go out exploring the area and go to local restaurants and street vendors, but it'll be nice not to have to go out too.

I was looking at tripadvisor and am thinking of Playa del Carmen.

Any body recommend a hotel in that area?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
