I actually considered "snowy" wedding. My FH and I do ski, so I was picturing something in Alps - France or Austria. The ceremony at the peak with amazing view and then something cozy in the evening with the fireplace (or fire outside!) for the reception. There were several show stoppers for me though:

- the cold - I am a sun loving being and I feel more comfortable at +35C than at -35C. Of course you'd rarely have a really cold weather in the Alps, but still I prefer warm beach to winter mountains.

- the dress - that partially comes from the cold. I just don't see myself in (any) wedding dress in winter. I don't even wear causal skirts in winter, and wool sweaters are my best friends in cold weather, so to compromise a nice wedding dress for an astonishing view wasn't in my plans.

- the price - clearly Alps are more expensive than many southern destinations.

Maybe we should consider it for the vows renewal? ;)

Great article, Alexis!

One other location that pops to my mind in addition to the ones that you suggested is the Ahwanee Hotel in Yosemite. I've never stayed there, but I've stopped there many times over the years to eat lunch, grab a drink or shop at their amazing hotel store. I heard it's also a popular wedding spot - for the summer time, they have a wedding lawn in the back of the hotel. There's also a super small wooden chapel in Yosemite Valley, very close to the hotel, where you can officiate the wedding. I'm doing a lot of free advertising for this place, but I'm seriously in love with it. It has so much character, the architecture is absolutely stunning and it's also super charming and romantic. I've honestly considered getting married there. In winter time, it gets even more magical, as it's surrounded by towering peaks covered in snow. Here are some photos:

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
