Hi Everyone!

I am really excited because my Fiance and I have decided to get married at Moon Dance Cliffs next June 2014!  I have read so many posts on this forum that have helped me choose vendors, know what questions to ask Kim, etc... it really has made everything so much easier.

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself and say congratulations to everyone!

It would be great if we can all share ideas, issues, etc. as we plan our weddings at MDC.  My only concern right now is the weather in Negril in June - someone told me they went to a wedding there in June and it was so unbearably hot that they were miserable.  Unfortunately, I have never been to Jamaica and won't be doing a site visit before the wedding so I won't be able to test it out for myself. Does anyone have any insight on this?  Has anyone been there in the summer?  Obviously I know it will be hot but I am wondering if heat/humidity will be too much in late June?

Thanks in advance for any insight!  :)

Hi and Congrats. Just make sure you plan a late wedding "sunset" it will begin to cool off. Also look at light materials for your groomsmen (linen- see custom suits $99 thread) and bridesmaids. Also look as fans, as a gift for your guests or dual purpose as a program. You should be fine but I'm in a warm climate Califonia Valley, if you are not used to heat deffinatly go for an evening wedding. Good luck.

Hi Carrie13,

Thanks for the save the date info, I will check out the site!

I am so excited that you chose MDC for June, I just put in my deposit with them for June 10, 2014. Congratulations to you on your engagement, and picking your venue! I am excited to share notes with you!

I have been to Jamaica, twice and the last time I was there was for a wedding in August, and it was terribly unbearable! The bride did provide fans for everyone, which was helpful!

Cherina gave a good idea about a late wedding. My fiance and I have been talking about his suit and he is worried about the heat in June.

I hope this helps!

Alicialo,

Congrats on booking your date! So exciting!!!

I was really freaking out about the heat for a while. Now I have decided that it is going to be hot no matter what and we will just make the best of it!

We were also talking about groom's suit and groomsmen attire since jackets and pants will be so hot.  We are going to try and have a later ceremony to help with the heat a bit, and the guys will wear light colored suits and can take their jackets off as soon as the ceremony is over.

Have you booked any other services yet - DJ, photographer, etc.?  We are probably going to book Kevan Stewart from Jamaica Wedding Dj.  His prices are the most reasonable and he gets great reviews!  I haven't decided on a photographer yet but I have looked at a couple.

Hi Carrie13,

I am so excited about starting the actual planning process!

I agree, having the wedding at a later time will definitely help with dealing with the heat! I haven't booked any services yet. I have received about two emails from Kerry who is going to be my wedding coordinator at MDC. She has been really proactive so far, which is a great sign. She recently sent me a time line of what services I should be booking. In the email she also included different vendors that MDC works with. I have to start looking at different vendors to see who has the best prices, Kerry mentioned Paul Dilworth with Illusion Sound as the dj, but I will definitely look into other dj's to compare prices.

I have been looking at save the dates, and we think that we found one on weddingpaperdivas. We bought a sample card to see how it looks, and if we love it we will go ahead with it!

I am starting to feel like, I have time, but I need to make sure I stay to my time line! Are you feeling pressure yet?

Feeling a little pressure!  I feel like they have made everything pretty easy so far though.

I am trying to figure out what photographer I want to book.  I booked Kevan Stewart "DJ Vaun" from Jamaica Wedding DJ since his prices are more reasonable than the one recommended by Kerry (and he gets great reviews!)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
