Hello!   I am trying to plan my destination wedding but do not know where to start! I have been reading thread upon thread and bog up blog to find out how much a DW might cost. I have gathered between 10,000 to 20,000 is sufficient which is exactly what my wedding budget is. However, as I am calling travel companies and looking at resort websites I am getting numbers like 800 PER PERSON for just the reception alone (just food and alcohol!). Please please help me! Is my budget of 10 to 20 thousand reasonable for bounty 50 guests? Do I plan through a company or the resort? My dream is to have a beach wedding which is perfect since I cannot afford one where I reside!   Thank you so much to anyone who will help and give any info.   Sincerely,   Desperate bride-to-be

is that 800/pp in pesos? that would be about $62 dollars......fyi :)

Wishing you all the best with your research, and that your Big Day turns out to be the wonderful Dream Wedding you wish for......Cheers :)

Where are you looking at for your DW? Which countries? I think Mexico is cheapest and most popular, then Jamaica and Dominican Republic. The reasons why so many of us go to these areas for our DW's is because these areas have the all-inclusive resorts. I would highly recommend staying at an all-inclusive. They are cheaper and they are more convenient for group travel, as your price includes your stay and all your food and drinks.

I would also recommend finding a travel agent to book the trip. This will save you and your guests a lot of headaches with the travel planing and will ensure you all get to the same hotel and are in the same area of the hotel. Many resorts will give you kickbacks on your own room price depending on how many people book with your group.

Definitely start with an experienced travel agent though. There are a lot out there who specialize in DW's.

Hey girl im going through the same thing BUT one important thing you need to ask yourself is what do you and your fiance want to this marriage. Do you want to be married legally there or get married in your country and do a renewal? Also does it matter beach or religious?

Also I went on The Knot and you can make up your own website to contact and make a guest list. Start emailing the WC at the resorts to see what they offer. What i also found MY own prefrence was i wanted to be the only bride that day. Some resorts do weddings by the hour. We can help eachother out on this journey!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
