Recommended Posts

hello my fellow destination brides. My fiance and I live in NY we will be flying down to florida for a week to start off the celebrtion with our family and friends before we board the cruise which we will be getting married on. Wondering if anyone has any helpfull hints on traveling with their bridal gown? Especially with the airlines?

More than likely you will be just fine. Take it as your carry on bag, in a decent dress bag. Hopefully they can either hang it in the 1st class cabin or in one of the closets for you - just ask nicely when you board. The flight attendants are the ones who will determine where it goes.

If there's no room to hang it, then plan to put it flat in an overhead bin - and close it, guard it closely!!

I traveled with my dress from Las Vegas to Cancun with a layover in Atlanta. My husband didnt see my garment bag until the night before we left. He took one look at it and said "there's no way they're letting you on with that" So, I spent the night before awake with fear I wouldnt be able to carry my dress on. Needless to say, everyone was very accommodating. I made sure to speak with the person at the ticket counter, before they started to let people on, and kindly asked if they would let me to board first so i could make sure there was room in an over head compartment. Every person said of course and let me on first. One flight attendant even offered to let me use the first class closet. When I had to put my dress in the over head compartment, I did have to fold it in half. I expected to have it steamed when i arrived, so I wasn't too worried about wrinkles.

I actually called united and they told me to advise them at the gate that I had a wedding dress with me and also to arrive early to gate! We were able to upgrade ticket to first class... Check your reservation frequently! They usually offer an upgrade for a fee..$125 per person one way! Totally worth it u get to check up to three bags no fees! Kelly:

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
