Has anyone seen or heard from DJ Doremixx lately?  We hired him months ago, but he has not responded to my last 3-4 emails (sent in December and January), and I am starting to freak out since my wedding is in two weeks.

I tried to start a new thread with this review, but I'm not sure where it went, so I am posting it again here. There are a lot of positive reviews out there for DJ Dorremixx, but I felt I should post my personal experience with them for other brides to be aware of. In order to book them I had to pay a steep outside vendor fee and in hindsight the onsite vendors would have been easier to deal with since they were affiliated with the resort. I started emailing with Dorremixx in July of 2012 (my wedding was in April 2013). Right off the bat they were extremely slow to respond to emails and when I would send follow ups requesting a response he (Ivan) would then respond and every time the reason was because their server was not working. I chaulked it up to the fact that it is Mexico so servers could be slow, but since he had SO many great reviews on this website that it would be worth it to stick with them despite the lack of the adequate communication beforehand. Fast forward to the weeks before the wedding, when my FI and I corresponded with someone named Mariska. She confirmed that she could meet with us at 10am on the Thursday after we arrived in Mexico for an onsite meeting in the lobby of our hotel (our wedding was that following Sunday). When we went to the lobby on that Thursday there was noone there, so we had the concierge assist with calling her. She had no recollection that we had a meeting and asked if we could come back to the lobby at 11 instead to meet with her. Once we met with Mariska, she documented everything in our spreadsheet and said that she would email us to confirm the name of the DJ that would be working at our wedding since our wedding coordinators requested this information. We never got an email. We sent another email to her the day before the wedding requesting that give us the name of the DJ who would work our wedding as well as for a copy of the latest spreadsheet. We did not get a response from her until 2 days after the wedding!! She then said, “it's after the wedding now, so is there anything else I can help with?" Ridiculous! We had put together a complete list of songs for dinner and dancing so the work should have been done for the DJ on the night of as far as song selections went. However within the first hour of dancing he played 3 songs that were not on our list. We had only 2 slow songs in our list and the DJ proceeded to play them back to back instead of splitting them up. Luckily our guests were so fired up and excited to be celebrating that our party did not lose momentum, but only 2 guests danced during the second slow song and the rest of us did shots. LOL. Again, ridiculous!! THEN - they completely DID NOT do the bouquet toss or garter toss that we had given them information for in our spreadsheet!!! On the plus side, I felt like our wedding party was in a club - the lighting was great, and the balloons and masks that they handed out were a lot of fun. But it seems like most of the djs down there hand this stuff out. Everyone complimented the music (which we put together), and noone even realized that there was supposed to be a bouquet or garter toss, so thankfully the party was still amazing and we had a blast. Again, this is one person's experience, so maybe this is not the case with everyone. But I personally would not recommend this DJ to any future brides. I hope they are able to get their server working, be a lot more communicative and listen to what is requested by their customers in the future.

I have paid half my deposit for DJ Doremixx and I leave in two days and haven't heard anything from them. No one will email me back and the phone numbers on their website don't work. Does anyone know how to get a hold of them? I'm really frustrated and nervous now.

Hey Idmoss,

Try one of the following numbers which are from Ivan´s new assistant.

infodoremixx@gmail.com

+52 998 196 0780

I have done many weddings with Ivan, and yes he is a bit slow in responding, but he will give you a great party.

Good luck with your wedding on the 7th I am sure it will turn out great.

Happy planning!

Joyce

    • Hi Patty, thank you so much for your reply. I will definitely check out each of these resorts and 5e attachments that you have provided.  Can you suggest a Canadian TA?
    • Congratulations Amanda and welcome to the forum! Absolutely use a travel agent. You will get the best rates & personalized for you and your guests. We can definitely give you resort suggestions & answer any questions you have, but your best bet for pricing will be to contact a Canadian TA. Canadian rates are different than the US market and are typically packaged with the air plus using a Canadian TA you and your guests can pay in CAD.   Karisma resorts are known for their "gourmet inclusive" food options.  Sensatori Punta Cana is a beautiful resort that opened a few years ago. They offers a sky terrace for weddings & reception. They are next to Nickelodeon Punta Cana and share many of the same restaurants. There is an awesome waterpark for kids that is available for a nominal fee.   In Punta Cana Now Onyx is a popular option & we have stayed there twice. The food is good and adults have the added bonus of being able to go to Breathless Punta Cana which is an adults only resort next door.  Now Onyx is in the process of adding a sky terrace for weddings with reception area attached.  Royalton Resorts are another great option. Royalton Bavaro in Punta Cana has a terrace overlooking the ocean and Royalton Riviera Cancun has an open air chapel overlooking the ocean. They are great family friendly resorts.  Resort info is attached for all of these options & we have stayed at or toured all of them as well. Please take a look and let me know what questions we can answer. Thanks! • The most recent post I found for Azul Fives brides is here -- although it hasn't been updated much:    You can also find a Cancun-Riviera Maya FB group hosted by this forum here, that will have various info you might find helpful! https://www.facebook.com/groups/CancunRMBrides/ Since you are considering Azul Fives for your wedding, I also encourage you to check out this promotion because it could save you a good amount of money on your wedding -- the only requirement is that you use Wright Travel, which is the official travel agency of the BDW forum! But their services are free, so it's a total bonus and will be a huge help as you plan your wedding celebration Hope that helps!!!
    • Can’t seem to find the forum for Azul Fives with the last year? If someone could post the link that would be great!  I am just starting to loosely plan my wedding and this resort is on my top list. Thanks!
    • Hi there I’ve been engaged for a few months now and we beginning to talk about our wedding. We are 33 and 34 years old, We think we want it to be in Mexico or DR. We expect about 50 guests including children. We don’t want to get married or have our reception on the beach. My Fiancé is a chef so we also would like good food! We would also like to keep the cost under $1800 per guest flying from Nova Scotia, Canada.  Any suggestions as to how or where to start the planning process? Should we use a travel agent?  Any experienced brides that can suggest a resort ? Thank you! amanda
