Totally feel your pain, but with my own mother.  She HATES my father's family (his brothers and sisters, their spouses, just everyone) - not my problem.  She was expecting me not to invite them to my wedding when I am very close with all them.  After I told her they were invited and it was mine and FI choice as it is our wedding.  And after countless arguments about the topic.  She moved on to wanting to have two tables available for her friends she wants to invite, people I have never met! And FI and I are paying for our whole DW & AHR - with possibly some help from my father for a few things.  She has not offered any help in anyway-but has caused me nothing but headache's.  I just explain the same thing every time to her that it is our wedding and I don't want a bunch of people at my wedding I don't know and that we cannot afford two tables of HER guests.  I even budge and said she could invite a couple so she has someone to spend time with if she chooses to not interact with my other family members. AHHH

In the end, after much stress about it - FI has always been there to listen & comfort.  I don't let it bother me in one ear and out the other.  It is our wedding and we are doing what WE want for OUR wedding.

Good luck and be strong, try to explain to you FMIL - and hope she understands!

Yup! The wonderful FMIL! Oh!!! And all her extra guests! My RSVP deadline was 3/1. I'm giving it another week and then I'm done.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
