worried about low attendance for our wedding

Hi there,

I have the same worries. My fiance and I are just starting to plan our destination wedding for November of this year, and I know a lot of people won't be able to make it because of the short notice. But at the end of the day, as long as he and I are there that is really all that matters. As other people have said, everything else is just a bonus! Have fun planning and try not to stress out.

I like that, i am still 10 months away, but i am already anxious to know who is coming or not coming. I should keep thinking that "people you think you know will be there for sure, won't make it. The people you thought wouldn't come will be the ones who come!" so i won't be disappointed at the end.

You can't let it stress you.  I had two bridesmaids not be able to make it 4-5 months before wedding.  Of course there are still people that are saying "I am coming. I have flight benefits I just have to book my room. " Now I am 3 months out from wedding so I assume they are not going to make it. If they do great but I have prepared myself that they will not make it, and if I do not see people booked within 2 months out they may not get a full welcome bag if I don't have extras.

I am having a wedding shower for men and women so most people will attend that prior to wedding.

@@BethandBill I am dealing with that now.  I expected about 60 people for our June 8th wedding but we currently have 18.  It's something you have to expect with a destination wedding.  A few of our fiends changed jobs/are really pregnant/ strapped for cash or simply do not want to go to Mexico in June.  It will be beautiful and the only people that matter are you and your fiancee.

I ended up marrying the love of my life in Freeport, Bahamas and we ended up getting married on the beach. We had met a newlywed couple the night before who just happened to be on the beach as we said our vows. Her hubby took tons of beautiful photos for us and we have ended up with lifelong friends. Several others stopped and took part in our big day, which was amazing. We had our reception a week after returning home and wore our wedding attire. All of our friends and family still got to be part of our day and in a way, we ended up having to big days. No matter who is able to be there for the actual wedding ceremony, it's your day and that makes it the perfect day. Good luck planning.

I am also worried about low attendance... But really I was expecting it... I mean, I of course am hoping for a higher turn out... But I'll be happy just to have the wedding of my dreams with the love of my life!!! Sadly, my sister and her family will not be able to attend, due to the fact that they are on a strict budget with her being a stay at home mom and living on 1 income... :(  I was of course sad about it, but I understand.... Plus I knew the risks of a destination wedding!!  But it was important to us that we have the wedding that WE wanted and not the wedding that would please everyone else...

My wedding is still quite a ways away, so people still have time to book... I was just hoping that people were as excited as me and would not be able to wait to book their trip!!! We've had SOOOO many people tell us that they are going to attend, but I'm really trying not to get my hopes up until they put down their deposit!!!

Either way I know that my fiancee and I will have a blast and enjoy every minute of our 10 day stay!!! I really can't wait!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
