worried about low attendance for our wedding

I figured we would only have 10 couples, but now we have almost 60 people going! I sent out the STD's early and some people are still considering, but as the other posters said...the ones you expect to come won't and the ones you don't expect will! That def has happened to me!

Somebody told me" your true friends will show up at your wedding and your parents funderal", and that is totally proving true for us. Friends we thought might have a more difficult time making it didn't even blink when we told them our plans, and they have been so awesome and supportive for dealing with all the other people who are not making the effort

My family and many of my friends seem to be pretty excited and already pestering us to see when they can put down deposits etc.. but my FI's family and friends seem a lot less enthused. I will feel really bad for him if they dont come through for him. He comes from a smaller family anyway, so he knew his "side" would be on the light side.. but I just don't want him to sad inside that we chose to do a DW. (It's my second wedding, his first... so it's a big deal for him- and I know he would be heartbroken) I think he's worried about the guys he is asking to be groomsmen- and that they may say no because they dont want to spend the money to attend.

I was worried at first and expected about 30 guests because the costs & people just have other commitments. Well, we have 50 guests confirmed as of yesterday. Two more just booked yesterday afternoon. We have to keep readjusting our budget and the number is more than we imagined so we're thrilled.

When I was concerned in the beginning, people kept telling me "The important people in your lives who are meant to be there, will. You can't worry about the rest." It's so true!

We thought we would have 30 guests max, well we have 65 total. We even had people phoning us that weren't invited asking if they could come.

Our big day is next week, May 2nd! We are beyond excited and so is the whole group.

We didn't think that there would be many from my FI's family attending, well guess what they out number my family.

We invited 106 but only have 25 attending. It's sad but what can you do? We knew a lot wouldn't be able to make it but you always hope that with a years notice people can get it together.

I actually had a good friend and bridesmaid drop out of everything, which was a huge disappointment. She is getting married this summer and dealing with immigration issues, but still. It's tough.

Although three co-workers (one previous, 2 current) are coming, which is so surprising.

I always try to remember that once the day arrives, I'll be so happy and thankful to everyone who was able to make it. That's what brides always come back and say; you never think about who didn't come!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
