Help!

we had planned on Grand Palladium and heard nothing but great things but Rocio  has been too busy to email me back and when Rocio did it was like i didn't matter, cause she or he has so much to do.I am not so happy about this place anymore, also with so many other weddings during the day do i need to worry i will be late or rushed? I really want all my family (including kids ages 1-17). We want a budget of $10,000. which would include my fiance and my travel and stay.We want to budget for $1500. per person for their stay.  We gave everyone a Save the Date and I'm in a pickle!!

Hi and welcome to BDW!

I think what you're experiencing with Grand Palladium/Rocio is pretty common with destination weddings. That doesn't mean it's right, or that it's not frustration - it is SUPER frustrating. But it's common.

I'm not sure when your wedding is, and that could have something to do with the slow response. Many resorts won't focus on a wedding until 120 days out, or even 90 days. Not to say that you won't get responses, but you won't get super quick responses until it gets closer.

And then you will probably finalize all of the details once you get onsite. For instance, we had to change one of our entrees when we got to the resort - it was no problem at all! And yes, I freaked out over the slow response time and frustration of planning from a distance. In the end, it all worked out wonderfully!

Most of these resorts do many weddings, and so they focus on the upcoming weddings more than the ones that are farther out.

I see an active threads with other Grand Palladium brides - it may be helpful in answering some of your questions, or at least to see if others have experienced what you have.

There's also a couple of reviews (I believe this is the same resort!)

Good luck with all of your planning - I hope it gets better/easier from here.

That's great advice for sweetdreams82, AllieH ! and yes, from all we've heard from our wedding couples, it's a fairly common experience / practice here. ......the lack of response until closer to the wedding day.

That being said, on the other side of that coin, is the big Plus of the resort's experience of having done so many weddings.......that their chances of getting yours just right are very good - and that's the most important thing !

All the reasons wedding couples choose to get married here - is what drives the wedding industry to be so busy here as well, and they ARE.

However this gives them Tons of experience, and so often we've heard our brides say that everything turned out Great and just the way they were hoping it would.......so BIg WIn!

The Grand Palladium is a wonderful destination wedding venue, and will make a gorgeous backdrop when telling your wedding story in photos.....as shown here in some magical wedding "moments that matter" Linc captured there........

Wishing you all the best with your plans, and that your dream wedding turns out Perfectly ! Cheers :)

Hi there,

Although we got married off site, myself and all of our guests stayed at the Palladium, white sands section. I had slow communication as well, yet when I arrived everything for my rehearsal dinner was is line, even all of my specail request, and I had many. Regarding a Mayan Ceremony,  Yazmin De La Mora services are the BEST.... They made eveything flawless and all of my guests were blown away....I strongly suggest you contact her. Also, her prices are very reasonable, we hired exyra services such as mayan dancers....soooooo cool, but if you are on a budget the shaman may be enough alone for your wedding. Here is a link of a few photos in a blog from my wedding of the mayan ceremony...take a look... Thanks Pamela

Thanks everyone but we have decided to go with Iberostar Paraiso. Great service. I had 2 WC from Grand Palladium in contact and they were giving me dates that the other would say was not available, I didn't choose to have both contact me but one said my day was available and then the other would say no but we can TRY to squish you in at 11:30. I know they are trying to help but it was getting me all flustered. SO i have not bothered there and i am glad with my choice!

I want dancers but on a budget. The Iberostar Paraiso Maya provided entertainment pricing and they can do 2 dancers for 30 mins. I want to know if we should try to get more or would 2 be enough to wow our guests. I havn't seen any videos around with  Mayan dancers.

Congratulations on your engagement @SweetDreams82! The Iberostar resorts are a great choice, a family friend of mine actually got married there a few years ago. The wedding coordinators usually take a while to respond, especially at this season since they are super busy with weddings.

For symbolic (non legal), just make sure you check with your onsite wedding coordinator when you should arrive, usually its 2-3 days in advance.

Thanks,

Jill

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
