People are going to give their opions whether you want them or not, so show only the people that you want their opions about it!!!  everyone's taste is different, but its not their day.  I also had this problem with an in-law that is very free with her opion, but take what she says and think about the points that she is making and then decide if the cons out weigh the pros....

Thank you for your insight! I really appreciate it. I have been struggling through the whole planning process with the in-laws. Mexico was the WRONG choice, then the date we set was wrong and we had to move it back a few months to appease them. Then we were being rude and tacky with the honeymoon registry we picked out, because it basically asks for money and we should do a traditional store registry. Then the website I made was wrong and I had to rewrite everything to fit what they wanted it to be. And now my STD's are wrong too. It's just getting to be too much for me, but I still try to consider their point. That's why I'm not really sure if they have a valid point about my postcard idea or if I'm just not wanting to change my ideas out of spite because everything else I have done is wrong and inappropriate... lol

Just needed some insight, thank you.

Yikes! In that case, I would do things the way you want to and not give them a preview. If they don't like the postcard idea when they get it in the mail, it will be too late to nix the idea, so they'll just have to deal.

It's polite to want to please everyone, but you can't and won't, so it's best to please yourself and not have regrets. You can take another person's opinion into consideration, but unless its your fiancé's, it shouldn't carry the same weight as yours.

Yes, I am learning to try and keep the FIL's out of the loop... lol They call every other day for updates though, so this week I'm just saying I've been too busy to get anything done. Hopefully my FI and I will find the right balance of info to share with them so they think they are in the loop, without letting them in on what's really going on... lol

@kellyw33 - How are you?  Have you booked a venue yet?  Riu in Ochos Rios, Jamaica seems to be a popular place, based on what I've read on BDW.com - I can't be much help with Jamaica - I've never been ...  but I'd love to share ideas.

Rayn-I responded to you on the other 2014 thread, but congratulations again! When I was thinking about a wedding in St. Lucia, my friend recommended his friend who owns Dreamy Weddings.  They plan weddings in St. Lucia and quite a few other Caribbean Islands, and the main planner seems to be well regarded. There is also Awesome Caribbean Weddings, who also get high marks for their wedding planning services.  I hope this helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
