ROR 2013 Brides

Recommended Posts

Hey girls,

I thought I'd start a new thread for us 2013 brides.  The others are so long and outdated.  Just when I think I found a great bit of info, I look up to see that it was posted in 2009!

I'm getting married on June 28th, 2013!  Only a 159 days to go and I'm very excited!!

I'm still doing some research.  I'd love to get some of the smaller details ironed out.  I can't find very many pics of the inside of the disco, still not sure about transportation from the airport, and I'm still deciding if I'm making Welcome bags.

What about you?

HI IrishGirl!

I'm getting married the day after you! How exciting! I'm definitely making welcome bags still not quite sure what to put in there to ensure its useful and all!

I'm also doing a rehearsal bonfire on 6/28 actually!

I plan on having my reception on the beach - but I'm not sure what comes with it? Do they decorate the gazebo thing or is it standard white have you gotten any details on this?

I'm totally nixing Cocktail hour since my ceremony is at 5pm, I don't see it necessary to pay $30.00 p/p for food they can just go grab at the all inclusive! Seems a bit ridiculous if you ask me.

I wanted to have dinner on the Pool Deck - but still deciding on the disco, the price seems a bit steep for only a couple of hours, I'm trying to find out if I can just dance at the Pool! Who freaking cares! We can all go to the disco later when its open to the public!

Have you decided on cake? I tried to get Selena Wong but contacting her seems merely impossible.

We should plan together!

And are you from MD? I'm from VA!

Hello Cam Tu Ho,

Yes I'm in MD.

We already reserved the disco.  I've never been to Jamaica before and we're a bunch of partiers when it comes to wedding receptions so I wanted something with air conditioning to make everyone and myself, comfortable enough to dance the night away.

Our wedding is at 1:00 but we aren't paying for anything extra.  We figured everyone can either go chill at the bar or take a nap before the reception.  The whole point is to relax and stay budget conscience.  There's a reason we picked an all inclusive resort you know?  Why pay for what's already free?  That's our thinking anyway.  LOL

So we aren't paying anything extra for anything, other than the disco.  I could care less about the cake, so the one that's included is just fine with me.  The dinner is a little confusing right now b/c we are right at about 42 guests which seems to be putting us at being forced to pay for a private reception.  I've emailed the corporate office about it so we'll see what comes out about it.

We made our own DIY plane ticket invites and my next project that we just went and got the supplies for is wedding ribbons with bells.  We are doing a rainbow color scheme and each girl is wearing a different color so our ribbons are going to be very colorful.

Hi everyone! I'm getting married 7/19/13 at ROR...can I ask which package you ladies are getting? I'm having about 35 guest whom all but 2 are staying at the resort and I wanted the free package because I'm having my reception off site...but Keisha (WC) told me I would have to pay for them to attend the wedding. It does not seem right to me to have to pay extra for guest who are already paying to be there...anyone have any knowledge on this??? Thanks,

Hey Soon2be, I'm not sure about all that. I know each package has an allotted amount of "included" people and you have to pay $10.50 pp for extra drinks after the ceremony and cake or something. And yes, they make people who aren't guests pay a 'guest' fee to attend, I think it's called a guest pass or day pass. All my guests are staying at the resort so I haven't paid that much attention to their policies about it. Happy Planning

IrishGirlMD,

Man I thought I was following this thread but apparently I'm following multiple ones!

I have about 60 guests I think so I'm going to have dinner at the pool deck, and after paying for the 600.00 set up fee I have it till 10:30pm so I think we'll just stay there for our first dance and what not! And go to the Disco later when its open to the public!

Rainbow theme how cute! I'm totally going to watch your wedding from a distance all those colors are going to be gorgeous!

Soon2b2013,

So if your wedding reception is offsite what about your ceremony?

From my understanding if your ceremony is indeed onsite, than your two guests that aren't staying there will have to pay that fee IrishGirl was talking about. Essentially its a daypass to access the hotel/resort regardless if your reception is there or not.

Unfortunately they nickle and Dime every penny out of us!

LOL, I'll be at the disco when you get there!!  LOL

I'm having so much fun planning a lil at a time and not getting overwhelmed by anything.  Sunday I did our own DIY luggage tags and they turned out pretty cute.  Plus it was a one day project which always makes me happy.

I think your reception will be amazing on the pool deck.  All the pictures are so pretty from there.  It'll be wonderful!!!

YAY a page for us 2013 brides!!!! I've been so caught up in my subscriptions I havn't looked at anything new!

We are booked in for a free wedding, semi private reception. We also reserved the disco for after dinner, because it was the better deal, including the bartender, open bar and DJ for $650, we have 24 guests.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
