How to set up various site visits in 1-2 days

Recommended Posts

Hello ladies, My FI and I are having such a difficult time trying to pick a resort for our July 2014 wedding. we (mostly me) have changed our minds about a dozen times. Most of it its either the crappy wedding package, too expensive, unattractive beach, small pool. Definitely know we want a resort in the Cancun/Riviera Maya area. My question is how do you go about setting up some site visits to various resorts in say.. a 2 day span? Who sets that up for you? Do you have to make an appointment with a WC at each resort prior to getting there? How do you get there taxi, shuttle?? And lastly, do you have to buy a guest pass to do these site visits? Please help.. I'm super stressed out and ready to call it quits push my wedding another year and just get married in NJ. (Not our dream) :(

Hi Lori,

I think you will want to set up a schedule with each resort's WC if at all possible. You don't want to just pop in and hope they have time to show you around. Plus most of the resorts have security, and if you aren't on the guest list, you may have trouble getting onto the properties. Whether or not you have to buy a guest pass probably depends on what you intend to do at each resort. I think if you're just touring the resort and discussing the wedding venues, you probably wouldn't have to buy a pass (after all, they are trying to sell you!). If you're wanting to get onto the property and explore on your own, swim, etc., then I can see them charging a day pass.

I know that the Karisma resorts have a Bride's Dress Rehearsal package to view their resorts -  it has a lot of perks, and is basically a free 3 day stay so you can tour their resorts (and then you get a credit for the amount of the stay towards your wedding package). Not sure if some of the other resorts offer something similar.

I also wouldn't suggest relying on a taxi to get around. A) they are expensive and B) they don't really "hang out" at the RM resorts. either book a shuttle service for yourselves for the day, or rent a car. All of the resorts in RM are pretty much along the same road leading out of Cancun. And the ones in the Cancun hotel district are also clustered well together. You'd be fine driving yourselves among the resorts, I just wouldn't stray very far from the resorts.

Do you have a travel agent who can help you set these up?

Good luck with your planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
