This was a great thread, I wasn't sure of the procedure for a wedding reception or about who is supposed to "move things along". This was great information and thanks for the app info.
Flow of reception/no dj

hh this is so awesome! I was so worried about that fading in and out of songs
I am also playing my iPod and not using a DJ. There is an app called weddingdj that is great..it organizes your songs in categories and fades in and out. We are also having a friend be the "MC". Just to help with the flow and announce dances and such. Our reception is going to be pretty laid back .. Here is our timeline: Entrance (he will announce) Dinner-toasts during dinner First dance Father daughter dance Mother son dance Dancing! Cutting cake

We aren't planning to use a dj either. Two of my three bridesmaids are djs so I hope they know that I plan to fully use them at the reception to mc as well as premix some music. Don't forget to have your location provide you a microphone at your reception site

I'm so torn with this issue too!! I hate the fact that I have to make out a complete song list anyway, and then pay a "dj" >$100/hour to hit play....wish I had a DJ in the family!!!

We are also not going to have a DJ, just going to bring an iPod and go with the flow
