HELP! bride and groom picture timeline after the ceremony

Recommended Posts

Hi !

In December the sunset is Riviera Maya is around 5:10. My wedding is at 2:30 (was at 3pm before). The ceremony will probably be 30 minutes (inclding the family sand ceremony). After the family portraits on the beach (we are 12 people), how long will it take to have my pictures taken with only my husband to be?

My plans are to have pictures on the beach and at a few places on the resort since I will like to have a variety of picture at different places.

My guest will be waiting for me at the lobby bar (on top of the gorgeous staircase at Dreams Tulums). My plans is to end my pictures on the stairs and then have my toast there + family pictures.

In between the family portraits on the beach and the ones on the lobby stair case, how long do I need? smile124.gif

Do you already have your photog booked? I've been refering to my photog for a lot of these questions, b/c even if they dont know the resort layout, they can still give a pretty accurate timeframe based on what your ideas are.

Other than thta, wow, I wouldn't be able to offer any advice for you. :-(

We're planning for an hour of pictures total after our ceremony just to not leave our guests hanging for too long (though with setting and cocktail hour they'll be just fine).

That being said, Holy Cow I had no idea Dreams Tulum was so gorgeous! Wow, that is such a beautifully dramatic entrance with the stairway! It'll make for great group shots too!

We shoot about 40+ beach weddings a year and get asked this question each and every time. Locally we like to have atleast 30 minutes to 1 hour after the ceremony with just the bride and groom. However, on location, we like a bit more so we can do exactly what you requested. Shoot on the beach and then a few spots on the resort. Your photographer should scout the resort prior to the wedding so he/she should know exactly where to go and in what order. Barring any delays, you should be fine with 1-1.5 hours of time after the ceremony to get TONS of beautiful shots. Also keep an open mind to getting back in your dress/tux and have your photog shoot you without a timeline the next day without the stress of getting back to the reception.

take care,
Gwyne and Mark

thanks Gwyne and Mark! My photographer is Elizabeth Medina and she has done 1 wedding there this past June...so she knows the resort.

I must admit to you all that I am a picture souvenir freak...

When my 1st daughter was born, I use to have 1 or 2 picture rolls per week to develop (that was 5 years ago!). Lucky for me know that I have a digital camera (less expensive...) since I take as much pictures today than 5 years ago but put them on a cd to watch on my computer or tv (slideshow).

That is why I would like so many pictures on my wedding day...finally, pictures with me in them; not just my kids + pets !

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
