Recommended Posts

Hi Yvonne, Im from the UK too (The Isle of Wight!) and flying out 26th May - getting married 3rd June - so not long after you! How is everything going? Who did you book your holiday/wedding through? Woud be really nice to hear from you, feel a bit stranded with not much info at the moment! Charlene.x
Hi Charlene Ohhhh your arrive 2 days before we leave. Yeah just sorting out the Uk wedding reception and the gift bags at the moment. As your soon realise once you've got your dress, bridesmaid dresses and men's outfits there isn't much to do lol. If there is anything you want to know check out the uk link or just ask me. The wedding co ordinatiors take a while to get back as the deal the weddings that are sooner first....which make sense All the info you want to know about private and non private reception is on the UK link and photographers. I'm doing sapphire and hiring a photographer for $500 for 1.5hrs to cover before, during the wedding ceramony and few after shots as the ceremony is only 10-15 mins I've been told. Plus everyone will be taking pics too xx The UK link is http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/85833/are-there-any-uk-grand-palladium-lady-hamalton-brides-out-there/90#post_1956074 There are some fab ideas on this website Yvonne xx

Hi everyone, I'm from sheffield there is 23 of us flying out on the 11th April to the GP, my parents have been to these hotel 2 years ago and really enjoyed it. We are getting married on the 18th April at the garden gazebo at 2.00pm. We have the pearl island package.we have booked the cocktail hour party and then booked the Asian restaurant for our reception. Other members of the public can obviously come in to this, that is at 5.30pm and you can stay in there for up to two hours. We said we then wanted to have drinks at the infinity bar and listen to the live band later on or the bonfire beach party whatever is on. Can't wait now, not long at all. It's my partners 30th birthday the day we fly out to Jamaica so have a double celebration. Hope everyone's planning is going well.

Hi,

There are 20 of us and were flying out 26th May - we are currently torn between the Saphhire and Island Pearl Package...we have currently paid for Sapphire through Thomsons but have been told that we can upgrade to Pearl if we want to - which I think we will! We have also chosen the garden gazibo and ours is at 2!

When booking the Cocktail hour and booking a table at the Restaurant for your reception did you do this directly with the hotel? I'm guessing I need to be doing this pretty soon before it all gets booked up! We were then thinking of going to the bar and partying in my wedding dress with everyone else!!

How exciting, have you got much more to organise/get together to take out with you?

Look forward to hearing from you and hearing about everyone else's plans!

Hi Yvonne,

Oh so we will have a tiny crossover with our stays!!

Yes same with us, have just begun to think about reception back here - but a lot will depend on how much money is left after adding on all of the extras in Jamaica!! We are also doing gift bags and are just trying to find as many interesting things as we can! At the moment I'm trying to find somewhere that does personalised plastic cups, the US seem to have a lot to choose from but in England you have to have a minimum order of about 100 if you dont want to pay about £10 a cup!! But think so far we've got wooden fans for the ladies, packets of confetti and sweets, a leaflet of info we will put together, fancy dress palm tree glasses and some Rastamouse bits for the childrens bags! Hope your planning is ging well - are you carrying on the Jamaican vibe through to your UK reception?

I've already ordered my dress and Adam has got his suit but were waiting on bridesmaid/ flower girl dresses and his shirt until we know what package we are definately having for the colour scheme - but I like Tiffany Turquoise so might try to work with that! Have you got all of your outfits sorted now?

I'm still trying to find out as much info as I can about the packages and photography - makes sense with reply times, I just dont want to wait till last minute and not be able to get what I want!! Are you having a private dinner after the ceremony? This is one of the main things I am trying to figure out!

Thank you for the link, although the wedding has been booked for a few months now, I am only just starting to really do some research and want to sort out as much as I can before Christmas as I know that as soon as 2014 arrives the time is just going to fly by!!

Hi Charlene, I spoke to the wedding manager with the email address that's provided by Thomsons in your pack. I ask for the details for the cocktail hour and private receptions and the receptions in the a la carte. When I looked at the menus for a private reception I just didn't think they were worth 45 dollars per person and thought with us having a reception back at home then having it in one of a la carte restaurants would be perfect and celebrate upstairs in the infinity bar with drinks and socialising all together. I've booked the Asian restaurant as if you have more than I think 16 people you have 3 options the Asian, Mexican and Jamaican restaurant but you have to all have the same starter main dessert so the Asian was the best and it gets fab reviews for its food. We are going to have the steel band for our ceremony. I have my dress, and ordering my bridesmaid dresses next month, ive picked some dessy dresses for the bridesmaid and need one for my little girl who will be 3 years old. Going to take some silk flower arrangements out, as with the weather I think the fresh ones will just wilter. Going to take a few extras from home confetti, favour boxes with little pressies for people and decorate the table in the a la carte restaurant. Going to take some Chinese lanterns for the beach. How is your plans going? Xx

Hi Charlene With have booked to have the reception meal in Xyamaica restaurant as I real want to have Jamaican food. Plus I can't really see why we have to pay an $45 per person when everyone has already paid for 2 weeks all inclusive. I know you get the privacy but I read that you put in a semi secluded bit anyway and I think by that point I won't care as will deliriously happy lol. I've read that you can have a drinks reception too for $15 per head but again I justify it in my head we can walk to any bar & grab a drink or cocktail for free lol but you never know I might my mind on the cocktail hour This is what they emailed me back regarding the a la carte....Alternatively, a non-private reception dinner can be hosted in any one of the 7 a la carte restaurants; this is at no additional cost, however you will be dining among other guests of the hotel and there is no option for your own entertainment (background music is provided for the entire restaurant). The restaurants open at 5:30pm. We cannot accommodate a non-private dinner if you have more than 30 guests. Someone here said they saw someone having a reception and it was lovely and private. So far In the gift bags I'm putting vest tops that say bridesmaids, mother of the bride etc for my Jamaican hen day (a day of being in the spa, drinking cocktails & champagne and food lol), a information guide to the hotel, resort & Jamaica. Gonna get T-shirts for the men. Invite to a welcome dinner (saw another bride on here had a welcome dinner & thought its a good idea as half of us are fly on the 14th & the other half on the 15th), its just gonna be in one of the buffet restaurants, thank you card, yellow candles (citrus smell), I've got caps done & colouring books & pencils for the little ones. Not sure what else?? We was going to have a Jamaican themed BBQ at the house but there are too many people to invite. So we have hired a venue, we are keeping our yellow & grey theme for this too but there will be touches of Jamaica. With a bit of food, Jamaican sweets on the sweetie table etc and we might be doing rum punch as our welcome drink I have my dress & bridesmaid dresses (theirs are yellow) and the men's outfits which will be grey we're get a couple months before. Xx

Hi Yvonne,

Thanks for the restaurant info :) I'm still waiting on a reply from GPLH but from reading a bit more on here now, I guess as long as I know what I want in my mind and I can book if about 2 months before the wedding then thats how it will be! I think we are going to concentrate on the things we can order and arrange now and wait to book a table at one of the restaurants nearer the time - just looking now to decided which ones we like the look of! We've got a few veggies in our group so Steak house might be out! Thats what we thought, paying extra ontop of everything else, when you can make it special anyway.

Have been doing some research into OOT bags (check me out!!) and have saved a lot of links, but havent actually ordered anything yet! We were thinking the same for little ones, you can get little wedding activity books, which we want to put onto the tables when it is the reception dinner but so far am thinking similar items to you -

-Novelty sun glasses

-Citronella Candle

-Confetti in a bag

-Sweets in a bag

-Wooden fan

-Info pack

And then we've got some horrible Hawaiian style shirts (from Primark sale!!) to give to men and need to think of something for ladies as a funny favour for reception meal.

We are also hoping to include a bit of Jamaica back at our home reception - keeping your colours will be lovely - are you wearing your dress again? I love the yellow and grey colour scheme - but my sis in law had it at her wedding this summer!

So now, just photographer to sort out :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
