I am starting to get the itch to plan so much but I know I need to relax. There's so much time but I feel like it will be here before we know it.

Hi there Sbelle!

My date is set for Friday July 25th! I've also got the itch and have been working away at getting a lot of my decisions made, including the dresses for me and my maid of honour, etc.

I definitely agree, it feels early but this way we won't be sweating the small stuff last minute either.

Congrats to all of you ladies! I'm looking forward to our 4pm beach wedding on Saturday, Feb. 15, with a private reception to follow in Blue Lagoon. We are having a cocktail hour as well at 5pm (figured the wedding will definitely be over by then) but not sure if we should have the cocktail reception in the atrium or infinity bar? Neither of us have been yet and not sure how far apart the beach, atrium and Blue Lagoon are.

Originally wanted Dwayne Watkins or Dean Clarke (photographers) but both are booked :( Will look into a few others I see suggested on this thread.

Happy planning!!

Hi Junomei!

Ok good. Now I don't feel so bad. I am about to start my dress shopping. When you made your reservation did you decide on where you are doing your reception? The lady Erica who did my reservation never even asked me what location I wanted but I just sent an email making that request. I did decide on a cocktail hour for sure. We've invited over 50 guests and it's hard to gauge how many people will actually come right now since it's so early but I want to make plans now!

Hey girl! I've read really great things about the Inifnity bar. I've chose to have my cocktail hour there as well. Your wedding is Valentines day weekend! How romantic. I can't wait to see how yours turns out. Yes you have to hop on the photography train pretty quickly. I am currently reaching out to some recommendations as well.

Happy planning!

Hi Sbelle,

I mostly just told them where I wanted to have everything once I decided and they reserved it for me. Once you make the decision about your venues just send them an email. I was working with Sharlene back in January when I reserved my venues... so don't stress out that your planning to early in advance, lol, I think I got that easily covered.

I am hoping to do the ceremony at the Garden Gazebo but it will be my guests that squash that hope as it can only hold 70 people(according to an email Sharlene sent me) and if everyone comes who is invited than we MIGHT just make it. If I have too many guests than I'm hoping I can move it to the Atrium. My ceremony is scheduled for 2pm... originally I had the 4pm slot booked, with dinner at 6pm at the Blue Lagoon. I've moved my ceremony to 2pm so that I have more time to get perfect photos with the photographer I am bring within me from Canada, as I am a HUGE fan of her work. I know it sounds like a lot of time for my guests but there is an entire resort for them to take advantage of while we do pictures(basically they can relax at any of the bars, etc). Plus I read on another forum about a bride and groom that took like 20 to 30 minutes of alone time to just enjoy the day together... so I've also figured that into my schedule.

Hey girl! I was in contact with the resort all last week and I was absolutely heartbroken because the blue lagoon has been reserved for my date. So I asked for other options besides the Poseidon because all of the reviews that I have read stated the Poseidom wasn't anything compared to the Blue Lagoon and it was a far walk from the main parts of the resort. My mother is in a wheel chair so I have to try to accommodate her. But I mainly wanted the Blue Lagoon for the scenery so now they're giving me other options at this point. I've emailed off to a couple of photographers but I haven't heard anything from them yet. That's a really good idea about spending some qt with each other during all of the madness. I really like that idea. My ceremony is also at 2pm. I definitely agree with you there about timing. The 4:00 slot is too close to reception time and taking pictures that you really want can be time consuming.

  • 3 weeks later...

Wow! It's awesome to see another NL Bride on here! I'm not nearly as far along as you are, but we're not getting married until Nov 2014, so I can't get any rates yet... I live in BC now, but most our guests will be coming from Newfoundland. Question, the price you were quoted, was that a direct flight? or is the quote based on flying from Toronto? That's the issue i'm facing, since we are getting married in November there are no dorect flights that time of year. So it seems to be adding up for our guests. Is it unreasonable to think that we could go for $1600 per person? LOL

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
