Riu Palace Peninsula 2013 Brides

Recommended Posts

I went ahead and reserved the Isla Mujeres for 6:45pm just in case I decided not to do the private reception. My guest have until April 1st to make their reservation with my travel agent so I won't know until then what kind of reception to go with. So far I have about 30 people confirmed but I just sent invitations out 4 days ago. Wonder if I had so many guest that it took up the entire restaurant or even 75-90% of the restaurant? Would it be included in the package as a semi private reception? Obviously I wouldn't care to share with others, but other people there vacationing may not want to have dinner in a restaurant where 90% of the crowd is all together celebrating a wedding. Anyways, I'm just thinking out loud.

Hii I am getting married 12th april 2014 in the riu palace peninsula and was also told i would need to pay for a private function and to also have a DJ! Does anyone know the crystal box option? Is this the room shown above? That was about 50dollars cheaper pp than the garden option. Thanks :)

Hello ladies and congrats to you all!!! My fiance and I have booked November 12, 2013 to get married at the RIU Palace Peninsula. We are having such a big turnout of people that we need to book daily activities for the group. Because most people are coming for 5 days we need something to keep them busy. For those of you who has been there, any recommendations as to what a large group (approx 50 ppl) can do aside from lounging by the pool and getting drunk?

Thanks

Hi everyone, I'm hoping to book in November this year - does anyone know how I can contact the wedding team at the hotel direct? The travel agent prices are almost twice as much as the prices I have seen on the Riu site! Any help would be appreciated! Thanks x

Just an update... Shew what a journey! I have 43 confirmed and booked guest flying non-stop to cancun for 6 nights to attend my wedding. I have chosen an outdoor reception ($80/person). I think the DJ is an additional charge. I am shipping my dress, groom's suit, my moms dress. I also had tumblers made to give out to our guest on the first night downstairs at one of the hotel bars for a little "welcome party" and monogrammed welcome bags w/ goodies for the guest to have in their rooms when they arrive ($2 delivery charge per room). I am shipping those as well. The WC said I could ship it all to him and he would take care of everything. As far as the ceremony I am hoping they can do white fabric decorations replacing the blue in the picture they sent me. 400 I have chosen the outdoor reception with the dance floor 400 I'd like to lose the white ruffled skirt around he dance floor but oh well. I'll be lucky if 50% of the wedding goes "as planned". I am a terrible planner.

Hi,

Me and my fiance returned from the Riu Palace Peninsula last week from a 2 week stay. Just wanted to say that the hotel is gorgeous and the staff are fantastic, cant do enough for you! So sure it will be a great day.

We are looking for a venue in the area that allows a ceremony on the sand looking at the ocean, but which also allows children, If you could help in any way we would be extremely grateful.

Thanks & All the best

Gem

I've just booked for May 2014.  A good photographer who someone recomended was delsolphotography.com....the pictures are awesome!

However, do any of you know if we're even allowed an "outside" vendor at this hotel?

Hi,

I'm just wondering if you can post when you find out, all the info about the DJ. I'm worried because we wont know if they're good or not! Also, do you mind me asking where you got the personalized welcome bags? I've been looking online.

I am getting married on October 25, 2013 at the Riu Palace Peninsula in Cancun, Mexico! I'm really excited and nervous since there's not a lot of reviews on this venue. If any one can out there has had their wedding at the Riu Palace Peninsula can you please share your experience with me? Also, can anyone reccommend a good photographer in Cancun, Mexico?

Thank you so much!

Super elated bride,

Hi there, from what I know all RIU's do not permit any outside vendors :( I think you have to use the photographer they provide, makes me uneasy

Hi everyone. I have contacted the DJ aurdiales@psav.com to request information on his services and the cost. I am waiting for a reply. I will update you all with any info I get. I saw where someone on here had mentioned they used the riu las americas photographers instead of the ones offered at our hotel so I tried to do the same and got shot down. Oh we'll it was worth a try. Honestly, each email I get from my WC tells conflicting information, prices, offers, etc. I'll forget he already gave me a price on something and ask for a quote again and it's always different. First, he told me the only option for a cocktail welcome party for 1 hr., drinks only, the evening my guest arrive was going to be 60/ person and then after I told him it was a shame that we have flown in almost 50 guest to his hotel (in the off season) and they don't offer a complimentary welcome gathering He sent an email I telling me they have a complimentary welcome party at the Tobago bar. Shew, there's no telling what the final bill will say and just from experience, it's hard to get them to adjust a bill at that hotel. I'm not putting down the hotel but for instance I remember during our stay last August we used the dry cleaning service which was picked up on a Tuesday morning. We had requested the 1 day service which cost more but worth it. We got our clothes delivered to our room that following Saturday evening before we left out Sunday Morning at 7am. Luckily, we realized shortly into the trip that casual comfortable clothes/shoes were the way to go in cancun, even at night, so I didn't need the dressy clothes we had pressed but when we went to check out we were charged for the express one day service. They said their was nothing they could do and looked at us like they didn't understand us. Obviously, it wasn't the ladies at front desk who delayed the service, but you could tell they didn't have a lot of flexibility or power or they were trained to play dumb in those situations until you just finally walk away. Or better yet just present you with the bill minutes before your shuttle arrives to take you back to the airport. Anyway, I'm sorry to go on and on, but theirs things I wish I'd known prior to my trip. Another thing, my FI and i took cash to operate on and more specifically $200 of it was in 1 dollar bills. We will definitely be taking more 1's than that this year. A $1 bill is the most useful thing there (ex. Proper tip, one way bus trip, street vendor, etc.) take plenty of ones!!!! Remind people during their stay that the rule for dinner reservations is not a joke. It is 2 days in advance and you can only book 2 nights worth and you have to keep coming back to make the other nights. Ex reserve Monday morning for Wednesday night dinner. Here are some more pics the WC sent me 400 400 These were the aisle runner options FYI aisle runners are an additional cost First option 180.00 Second option 200.00 I asked the WC to send me any more wedding pictures he had 400 400 Also these are the tumblers I had made for all my guest to give at the cocktail welcome gathering 400 And last picture and I'll leave you guys alone. These are the bags I had made and shipped to the WC for him to have in each room laying on the bed when the guest arrive. ****to jasminm---- I found these particular ones in Nashville tn at a surplus warehouse. I can't think of the name right now but I will look at my receipt and see. I ordered online for the ones I had to give as gifts at my bridal shower. I'll try to find out that website as well. 400

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
