Riu Palace Peninsula 2013 Brides

Recommended Posts

Hi!

Okay, so I am not going with a travel agency so I have been making contacts directly with the staff at Riu. Sometimes, TA's are more insistent on booking immediately so they are guaranteed a commission from the resort. Otherwise, they spend time communicating with the Resorts, vendors, etc. and if plans don't work out, TA's loss out on their time. Well that's what my friend who works with a TA said :) So with all that being said, I think you may have more flex with the resort.  In my case, we emailed them last week in December and they wrote back within days with room rates (giving us close to a month until the quote is no longer valid! We actually have until Jan. 25th to be exact!) I would email them yourself and just double-check. That's really a short amount of time considering its a group of you going.

The other thing that I did was email the wedding dept. first (Paola Flores is the contact person) and requested my ceremony date and time. They reserved the date with a confirmation number. Then she was the one who referred me to the Booking Dept. (Cesar Cervantes is the contact person) who gave us the group quote. So most definitely make sure the date you are wanting is available before committing to the rooms.  Not sure what your TA said about deposits, but the resort wants 10% of the total cost as a deposit (TA might want more of a percentage). In my case, we have 30 of us going so I collected $100.00 from each person and will pay the resort deposit with that.

As far as the wedding planning part of it, I will attach the packages. They are NOT specific at all with what types of decor they provide so I emailed them asking more specifics. Once I get a response, I will let you know.

I have not stayed at this resort as it's fairly new. It's only been open since May of 2012 so I am hoping it will be awesome! Other resorts can get runned down fairly quickly. I was going to book with Moon Palace Resorts but this resort came out to be way cheaper... and it's brand new!

Okay, so check out the attachments and let me know if you hear anything from them. Good luck!

Noel :)

Oops I'll copy all this and email you directly :)

We are getting married in July at the Riu Palace Peninsula. We went down in June 2012 and stayed at both the Riu Las Americas and the Riu Palace Peninsula. We chose the Peninsula due to its larger foot print (more pools, bigger beach, ocean view rooms, etc.). We took pictures with the photographers at both resorts and even though we are getting married at the Peninsula we are using the photographers from the Las Americas. I personally thought there was a large difference in quality of photographers experience and ideas and mostly importantly the quality of the final photos. The photo company is called adventure photos.

We also went down in November and meet with a wedding coordinator. The weddings take place just below where the buffet is located. On the sand just before you reach the edge of the property or in the grassy areas, what they call the "garden."

You can choose your date by going to the Riu's website under the weddings area and selecting your date and time. Once you complete everything, they will send you an e-mail to lock in your date and time.

Hope that helps!

I have booked the royal package. I believe it's called that. I have been working with the wedding coordinator and I asked for some photos of the possible reception options. I have stayed at the riu but I was having trouble trying to image where everything would be taking place. These are the pics that he sent. I believe the outside option is an additional 80/person but I'm not sure. Sometimes the info is difficult to understand through email. 400[/img][/img]

Congrats all.......looks + sounds  like your plans are progressing wonderfully - well done :)

simpsondunn - when you were saying the outdoor reception would add 80/per person, that sounds to me like they mean 80 pesos ( which is about $7.00 dollars) , not 80 dollars........right?

wishing everyone happy planning, and hope your weddings are as perfect as you envision them to be !!! Enjoy :)

Oh I wish. I just went back and checked out my emails from the wedding coordinator and it says private reception event 80 USD/person which includes food and beverages. Also if you want a cocktail hour it is 20 USD. The cocktail hour is held in the garden right were the wedding will take place. I also asked about a laundry service at he hotel that could steam my dress once I arrive. The WC said they could do that but hey needed the dress 2 days prior to the wedding. Just a few things I thought I could share that might be helpful. There is also 3 options for the semi private dinner reception. Restaurant Isla Mujeres -Steak House (á la carte) - sitting reservations only if available 1° sitting 6:45pm or 2° sitting at 8:45pm *Restaurant Tamales - Mexican (á la carte)- sitting reservations only if available 1° sitting 6:30pm or 2° sitting at 8:45pm (maximum 15 people) *Restaurant Kabuki- Japanese (á la carte)- sitting reservations only if available 1° sitting 6:30pm or 2° sitting at 8:45pm (maximum 10 people) I reserved the isla mujeres for 6:45 just in case I decided not to do a outside event. My guest have until April 1st to confirm whether thy are going or not so I wanted to wait until I got the final count before I decide what reception is best fit for those attending.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
